Vanished buildings in our area
Have just been thinking of what we have lost in Accrington over the past few years. In some cases, some excellent buildings.
ACCRINGTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL THE OLD MILL AT THE TOP OF CHURCH STREET SACRED HEART CHURCH THE HOUSING ALONG BLACKBURN ROAD WOODNOOK MILL. Even the old Skill Centre (although not that old) Can you think of any more? |

I remember visiting there for the SS - was like 2 semis knocked into one. I soon learnt that to visit in a morning was inadvisable because of the stench of soiled bedding was not gotten rid of until afternoon.:( |

The nursing homes that provided dignity were rare, and that definitately was not one of them. So demolition is a good idea:D |

Re: Vanished buildings in our area
How far back do you want to go? If you're going back that far, then why not chuck in the old H & B and Ewbank factories in Accy? Or even the old police station in Church, built with something resembling a minaret which these days could easily be construed as a mosque. A Victorian folly perhaps, but possibly at one time it did have a functional purpose, although I can't think what.
