Re: Hargreaves Gill
quote=Retlaw;881966]I've already contacted the Gill's & Hargreaves's in Australia & Lancashire, about this thread & the link to the Fairy Bells. I met them both for the 1st time last October, when the Australian came over for a visit. I have helped both of them over several years in tracing their ancestors.
One of theirs was a Jonas Hargreaves who originated in Yorkshire, fought in the Penisular Wars at Talivera. He was buried in Accrington. They have no link to the Spinning Jenny Hargreaves line. Retlaw. [/quote] And it was an absolute pleasure to meet you, Retlaw ;) |
Re: Hargreaves Gill

Re: Hargreaves Gill
Thank you all for the information! I am one of Hargreaves decendents by his son John living in the United States and it was very interesting to see all of the places where his family has gone.

Re: Hargreaves Gill
I cannot understand why Atarah has not posted on this chap. Very interesting - new to me. I ask that the descendants get in touch with the library to ensure that they have a full record of HG - and that you post this information on the thread about Eminent Accringtonians.
The aforementioned Atarah will want the instrument for the proposed museum. There is a gravestone in St James' churchyhard for another local chap who invented a musical instrument. |
