Livingstone Road

At the very bottom of Livingstone rd there is a v straight road thru
the countryside. Is this purely a walk or does it have any local
history ? My dad came to the ground last week and wondered if it
had ever been part of an old railway line ?

Re: Livingstone Road

When I moved over to Accrington in the late 60's I drove my car down that road a few times, I don't know why but I did. It was a bit rough and not really suitable for cars but we did those silly things in our young and foolish days.

There was a railway line that ran from Huncoat station to the brick yards and parts of it are still visible to this day, maybe this was a link off it to the Nori works.
I am sure someone has posted something about it on this forum earlier.

Re: Livingstone Road

It was a single track minor lane which linked to Whinney hill rd.It was roughly surfaced by bricks from Nori and was mainly used by wagons .Also nicknamed as the "Red brick road".It was not a railway line.

Yes, you are correct ... remember this now .. will go and take a look.

It is shown in Adrian Shurmer's guide, but naming it as Red Brick Lane .. bit posher.. :)
