Vitreous vivacity!

Ok, as well as being something of a Railings nut, I also do a nice sideline in tile fancying.

Where are these gems of the potters craft located? I need the building and the road for this one. You might also like to know that they are visible seven days per week during licensing hours.

As a non frequenter of pubs I'm going to be struggling with this one. I'll have a wild guess at The Castle, Whalley Road.

We e e e l l, you are on the right track with pubs, but it isn't the Castle, sorry.

Educated guess AB, I'm sure I've passed, yes passed this pub in the last few days and I'm trying to narrow it down a bit.

OK...lets have another go...there's 2 pubs along Blackburn Road, the Globe and the one on the corner opposite whose name I can't remember but it does'nt matter because I can never remember which one is which. Anyway, it's the entrance to one of them.

The one yer tawkin abaht is the George (or was). Can't be that one though as the door leads straight into the bar. Must be the Globe then!

:thepint: I've just spent all day wandering around accy, calling in pubs just to see what their tiles look like. Who do I send my receipts for expenses to?

Re: Vitreous vivacity!

Well for all us exiles this is getting very interesting, imagine a pub not being found by Accy Webbers, is this the end of the world as we know it? are there dark forces at work stopping our intrepid band from reaching there goal? Who will lead us to this holy grail? we need someone with a bottomless pit to sample the fares at different hostelries and a steadying influence to take notes, do we know anyone like that, could someone be nominated, or should we just admit defeat? Never I hear you cry........ we will do it, but who?

Sounds good.

Re: Vitreous vivacity!

If all you guys joined together and put in, say, twenty quid each, Bazf and I could fly over and find this for you. You are obviously not able to do this without the help of the expats. We could also sample the wares of each hostelry as we progress around the town and start a thread giving points for each pub. In this way, we could help you all to avoid going into places which are not worth the bother. Someone has to come over and help you lot out. Are we up for this Bazf?

Re: Vitreous vivacity!

Hehehehe, we're not falling for that one John W :D I have to say that the tiles look familiar. I have been peering through the doors of various hostelries in the last couple of days hoping that I will stumble across the right one. Hmmm, maybe I should try staying sober.:)

WillowTheWhisp 13-10-2004 16:28

Re: Vitreous vivacity!

It's definitely the vestibule of The Globe on Blackburn Rd near the bottom of Willows Lane. I've seen it today with my very own eyes, even down to the broken/missing tile. Very nice tiles they are too.

Acrylic-bob 13-10-2004 17:48

Re: Vitreous vivacity!

Hi Chaps, I am glad you are all now agreed on this one.

It is in fact the vestibule of the Globe. Full marks and coconuts to Tealeaf, Darby, and of course to Willow. How about having a go at the new one.
