Rossendale Local History Day 2013

This event will be held at Haslingden Cricket Club on Sunday 24th March 10am-4pm. Several societies and organisations from the surrounding area will be represented there. There'll be a secondhand book stall specialising in Lancashire history. Likely there'll be a family history enquiries desk too.

Details from : [email protected] or from John Simpson in Accrington Library

If you know of any Facebook pages or other avenues of publicity, please will you post this information.

You could post it on the Rossendale Online Database Error forum when its working again (database error today).

Then the people of Rossendale may take note (or any that still use the failing site.)

Thanks Rainbow - I did so yesterday, before the crash. I am hoping that there will be a facebook or similar page. I don't do twitter, but that must be a great way of publicising and event such as this.

Wadey has posted it on Haslingden Roots and Historic Rossendale. I have emailed details to someone who runs a Bacup site. It will be an event to interest not only those who live in the Valley now, but exiles too,and those who live "beyond t'Thrutch"

Re: Rossendale Local History Day 2013

My journey over the Grane went well, though someone from Hebden Bridge only managed half a mile before turning back. The day was bright but bloody cold. The temperature probably affected the attendance but not over-much, as there was a constant stream of visitors coming in through the front door ( and letting the cold in). I think only one stallholder group - family histsory - failed to appear. All told, it was deemed a successful day and the organisers promised to repeat it next year. It was Chocolate Day in Rammy, which may have affected the attendance too. Two Accywebbers came and introduced themselves.
