Picture House?

Re: Puzzle 2

I can see what you mean, it is a bit reminiscent of the grilles and screens that were used to hide the pipes of cinema organs.

But it's not that.

The flats down Edgar Street.

Re: Puzzle 2

Not exactly. Looks like you and Busman are going to be using up a bit of shoe leather tomorrow.:D

Re: Puzzle 2

Somebody else will probably get it before then.

As the sainted Ena Sharples was often heard to comment; "'appen they will, Minnie Caldwell, an 'appen they won't."

This isn't behind the police station ?

Spot on, Doug, it isn't behind the Police Station.

Re: Puzzle 2

The trail on this one appears to have gone a little cold. So to spice things up a bit I'm increasing the prize to....

5000 Ackers!

Re: Puzzle 2

The problem with this one is that I can't even recall having seen it anywhere so I don't have anywhere I'm even thinking of going - besides, I was going to stay in tomorrow and iron shirts.

Re: Puzzle 2

Just to try and clear things up a bit before I post any new quizzes anyone has anyone any new ideas about the whereabouts of this choice bit of metalwork.

The current prize stands at 5000 ackers.

Re: Puzzle 2

I'd forgotten all about this one. Is it perchance round the back of the Yorkshire Bank somewhere?

Acrylic-bob 28-02-2005 12:30

Re: Puzzle 2

Oh dear me, no.

Broughton's?

(I'm clutching at straws)

>> (I'm clutching at straws)<<

You are rather, arent you! No it isn't Broughtons.

BTW, I have just been having a look back at some of the old puzzle pics, they were rather entertaining weren't they?

WillowTheWhisp 28-02-2005 12:45

Re: Puzzle 2

Some of them were quite a challenge - love the one about the bank in Union Rd. We even took our own photos of that one and the one Tealeaf thought it was to show the difference, lol.

Acrylic-bob 28-02-2005 12:55

Re: Puzzle 2

:D Yes I remember tealeaf swearing blind that he was right and we were all wrong. I am rooting out the maps and notes and stuff as I type...

Re: Puzzle 2

The funny thing was the day we were up there taking the photos there were a few other people about with cameras too and Busman said he wondered if any of them were secretly AccyWeb members who we hadn't met yet! :D

It was Tealeaf they confused, not us. :D

Acrylic-bob 28-02-2005 14:55

Re: Puzzle 2

It isn't from anywhere near Oakhill, Tinkerbelle, sorry.

Doug 28-02-2005 15:41

Re: Puzzle 2

Bl**dy marvellous, I forgot about these. What’s happening A-B is the Acrylic-Biff refusing to walk to any new and interesting areas of our fair state, “and lets face it, is a state”? I for one “although pretty crap at it” enjoyed these little challenges and greatly appreciated your efforts on our behalf. And just think of how much you have contributed to the health of accywebbers, traipsing round the town looking for clues. May I say, if you where to start things off again you could do so as part of you therapy towards kicking the habit. :)

Doug 28-02-2005 15:43

Re: Puzzle 2

By the way, any chance of a clue? :p

Stopping is neither easy nor pleasant; :( we should commit ourselves to helping those who seek to defeat this horrendous habit in whatever supportive way possible, :) a good starting point is making allowance for temperament and accommodate those wishing to sacrifice their sanity, short term health and sometimes friendships in order to stop. I’ve been clear for around 3 years come Easter. I did it myself, no drugs, gum or anything else, but I couldn’t have succeeded without the understanding of others, and a ton of sweeties, My waist band has gone from 30 to 36 and my collar size from 14.5 to 16, this is due to the fact that I’ve sat on my a** instead of getting some exercise. :o

A Clue...Hmmm....?
Ok It is to the south east of Burnley Road, to the west of the Coppice, to the north west of Arden Hall and to the north east of the town Centre (All directions are vague approximations)

I'll be out with my compass this morning! :D

Is it on the Hall at Getty Park A-B??

Acrylic-bob 01-03-2005 10:08

Re: Puzzle 2

Since Gatty Park is not south east of Burnley Road, I suppose not.

It's a guess. The church on Sultan Street

What church on Sultan Street? I used to live in Sultan Street and never saw a church there.

But I have found it! :) It's towards the top of Manor Street, junction with Alice Street and I think it was once a Co-op.

At Last!

The prize of 5000 Ackers goes to Willow! I was begining to think that no one would ever get this one.

Well done Willow, You have got us off to a flying start!

That's probably Cambridge Street Methodists in that case Doug. Just round the corner from where I lived.

:) Woohoo! Thanks for the Ackers A-b. I did actually mention the building before we set out but we drove up a few other possibilities before we got there and eliminated those first. (coming from Avenue Parade direction) When I first saw the corner it looked the wrong colour. I could have sworn your pic was beige rather than grey but now I've come back and looked it isn't!
