Broad Oak Hostel
 

A friend is asking for information on Boad Oak Hostel, in which a family member died in 1964. I think it was in Broad Oak Rd, or was it in Broad Oak terrace in Sandy Lane? Who owned it ? How did it operate ?I understand that it no longer operates. How long was it in business ?

I getoff to sleep just fine, but when I wake up in the night, I have trouble getting off again, so I get up for an hour or o then get back in, tuck into the lee of Bum Hill and I'm away for a couple of hours. Thanks for thinking of my we;lfare, Taddy.

I knew the area very well, but must admit can't remember any Hostel in either Sandy Lane, nor Broad Oak Rd. As far as I know there wasn't a Broad Oak Terrace, might be wrong, but pretty sure about it.

Adrian Shurmer's Guide gives Broad Oak Terrace. I confess to being disappointed over not yet getting an answer over this hostel.

Just googled up the following article, please note the key word being "Care Home"!

You are welcome….but alas I do not know where this building is.
I played in that area as young lass…my friend lived in Sandy Lane, but I cannot recall seeing anything like that…nor do I recall Broad Oak Hostel.

is that not Heathland School (well no more) it certainly looks like it and its on Sandy Lane ?

just read that article it says it in there haha.

Yes noted the point in the article about Heathland School, but same as Margaret as a kid I used to play about in that area, but can't remember the building, nor the name Heathland School!

Thanks a lot Schurm for the info. Just found it on Google Earth. Must say it's a bit hidden behind a building and a lot of trees.
Still wondering however whether this is the building being asked for in the original post from Bob Dobson.
By the way in my Google Earth picture, there is a poster ourside saying that this is a school!

It was a school but its just closed it was also a nursery all 4 of mine have been there as a nursery.
