Puzzle 24

1 Attachment(s)
Not quite the Dreaming Spires of Oxford, but it will have to do. Of which building is this an adornment?

The correct answer will net the observant puzzler a cool 10 Grand in Ackers.

Think I've lived away too long, and I obviously wasn't that observant when living there...poor me I'll never win any Ackers:o

Re: Puzzle 24

Take a wild guess, fibi. It's not about being right, really, it's more about having a bit of fun!:D

Oakhill Park? (ducks and runs from possible flying acorns)

Doug 08-03-2005 09:46

Re: Puzzle 24

Willow, do flying acorns give you the runs?

Acrylic-bob 08-03-2005 10:29

Re: Puzzle 24

Oh, I was wondering how long it would be before that came up again!

Re: Puzzle 24

Look you two I've got FWS and it's very stressy I can tell you. I've had to contend with upwards of 76 latex balloons this morning. :p

Up the back end of Oakhill Park where that bit of Hollins Lane comes to and end?

Re: Puzzle 24

Oh I see, adding rubber to the list now. Does Busman know what he is letting himself in for ?

No, of course it isn't at the back end of Oakhill Park, it's nowhere near Oakhill Park.

Is it facing St James Church?

WillowTheWhisp 08-03-2005 16:27

Re: Puzzle 24

St John's Baxenden.

Acrylic-bob 08-03-2005 18:23

Re: Puzzle 24

St John's Baxenden is late 19th century gothic revival. The building in the picture is almost a hundred years older - and isn't in Baxenden.

Is this a Chimney A-B and is on a pub?

Tinkerbelle 09-03-2005 17:15

Re: Puzzle 24

Is it on the back of the Dunkenhalgh A-B?

Acrylic-bob 09-03-2005 18:07

Re: Puzzle 24

I am not entirely sure whether it ever had a function or whether it was intended to be purely decorative. But it isn't on a pub and it isn't attached to the Dunkenhalgh.

It`s on St James Church opposite end to the spire

Acrylic-bob 09-03-2005 21:40

Re: Puzzle 24

Hurrah! it is, as Uncle Mick says, situated at the east end of that delightful eighteenth century edifice at the heart of our town centre, St.James' Church. Well spotted!

Re: Puzzle 24

Well fancy that! How many times must I have seen that without noticing it? I was even at the opticians right next to there this afternoon. Says a lot for my new glasses doesn't it? :D

Re: Puzzle 24

I only saw it this lunch time !! Now thanks to a-b my eyes scan the roof tops while my shoes hit the dog muck!

Re: Puzzle 24

I'll have to come down there and have a good look round the town.
