I'd argue that the site is wrong on this one! Random Mutation from radiation etc is widly believed to be why we have such a diverse range of animals, then of course natural selection does it further.. Mutation is the driving force! Pfft!

If you had read other parts of this thread you would have found that we don't actually read a lot of the questions, For your benefit here is the method I use, raver may do something different. Q's get repeated so by remembering a couple of the answers and which is correct you don't have to read that much. e.g. there was a question a while back whose answers were stuff to do with london, you had to chose the odd one out. the answers were

london bus
postbox
cab
(one other I forget but it was red).

now the Q was quite long but when it was repeated, I read only the answers and saw london bus, london cab, I knew the answer is cab. I only needed to read two answers in this example. I am also a very fast scan reader(I subconciously use word shape recognition where I don't actually vocalise words)its is quite easy to answer this question in 1/2 a second. get 5 or 6 repeat Qs and you are at 17 seconds to answer 4 that you haven't seen before. 4 seconds is easily achieveable for this. The other great time consumer is scrolling down the page, I use a big screen at work which I rotate to portrait, by shrinking screen font I can get the whole page displayed in one go so I don't waste any time not actually answering Qs

I surprised myself there, had to guess at 3 and managed to get 2 of them right.

Still, 9/10 aint bad. Questions weren't long winded either so dead quick to scan.

The speed also depends on your pc. I did the quiz yesterday on my sisters pc, & it took me nearly 3 minutes (slow & no scroll wheel on the mouse). Today i've done it on my own, & i'm back to just over a minute.

I've just noticed something else that is quite strange. Look at the thumbnails below. When i looked at my stats for the month (pic 1), they were all nicely listed as i expected. However, when i looked at one of the new names, there was no info about them (pic 3). Also their stats say that they haven't played today, when you can clearly see their name on the scoreboard (pic 2).

Im really disappointed in all you cheats & dont really understand why???? Gee its not like u win owt good or its a millionaire, you really took the **** & it took me a while of suspicion to nail you all. Unfortunately the cheats have spoilt it for the other players who played genuinely:angry: To say u took the pi$$ is an understatement!!

Thank you Raver for your confession & grassing the others up who i know already, entwisi i was aware of what u told me & others here as a cheat but in no way did u mention to me the real reason of bodgeitbilly [workmate mm], this is not what i set the quiz up for!! Fun that was it with a little healthy competition but not to this extreme!!!

ALL of the suspected usernamed alias's have been removed & i will be monitoring the quiz more closely from now on & yes i have kept record of previous alias's IP & other technical information to prevent this happening again - its gone beyond fun!!!

Have to say Mthead was the 1st one to come clean & let me know what was going on & we proved the point with my debut on quiz - he''s got a slapped backside too & Mr Mystery got a roasting off Tinks too as she was genuine player & wasn't aware {to clear that up** now that is punishment enough LOL

I still don't understand how it all worked. We have 4 users at this "address." It's not like the same address gets the same questions? Now I must admit, FishandChips, who'll play like twice a week will get the same questions that he's had before but not the same as the rest of us. I mean sometimes he'll get the exactly same questions he had before.

My biggest complaint over here is when I catch Cinnyose yelling an answer over to Annello when she gets stuck.

Hey Rindy, do you think whatever these guys were doing is being done on Global Trivia? I mean some of these scores 15 out of 15 in 30 - 40 seconds is really hard to understand. I know my machine is kinda slow but I believe my fastest has been like 70 seconds. What do you think?

No cant be removed from scoreboard but if these fictious people try again to register that IP addy will be completely banned & the cheaters have been lucky to get a second chance i hope this incident doesn't repeat again if it should it will result in instant ban.:Banane37: Anyone joining the quiz who wish to play, that hasn't used their accyweb username & without letting me know reason or intro'd here [in this thread at least] will have to removed to ensure the quiz isn't in dis-respute again.

I'm like you, a bit confused.:confused:

The questions apparently change every time you play, so how can that benefit you if you them play again?

As for the Global Trivia Challenge, no way could I be bothered to play six times a day, instead of the daily three. Besides it wouldn't do me any good, as I've played more games than you...and you're still whuppin' me.:D

ok, we tried to post this last night but our internet is playing up at home at the moment.

do I cough to something, yes but not what you all actually think.

bodgeitbilly does actually exist. he is a mate at work and I would normally have a brew with him in the morning whilst he did the quiz and watch the Qs he got and what the answers should be. then it was easy to fly them out quickly using exactly the method I have described. I would say though that some subjects "bible triv" for one did repeat a heck of a lot of Qs and in those cases I didn't need to use Bills go.

As for IP tracking, in these days of routers and proxies, it is quite possible to have many legitimate users on one IP as you will only see the IP of the router/proxy server(i.e. NAT hides your individual IPs). However it is not hard to also use completely different IPs. e.g. I have access to teh following set of IPs,

Home
Work (LAN)
we have 5 seperate wireless LAN points at work each with their own IPS , I can switch between any of these.

dialup( I have three different accounts I could use) - turn off images and dial up is perfectly useable.

unsecured networks, - there are loads around, dead easy to hide behind someone elses IP (if youhaven't secured yours mel I could even appear as you!)

so IP is not reliable

Speed wise, nope no cheat there, once you know what words to look for you can fly through them.

In a way, raver blew the gaff by being so quick on brand new subjects :D If he had used his head and got a few intentionally wrong you probably wouldn't know for sure.

I do think that teh big issue is the fact that the server doesn't mix Qs during the day. Also if you create a few 'quizes' of your own and set the subject the same it doesn't take many days to get a good selection of teh Qs in your head. :D(not that I have done this method-yet!!!)

there was also a mention of how teh quiz could be done extremely quickly. I have mentioned this to a couple of people, Mel included, so now this is a come clean session I'll spill the beans on that as well,

I started working on a way to get a sub 1 second response time. what I would do is to write a program that effectively enters the quiz for me, it would make teh request to teh server, take the HTML response, parse it to get the 10 set of answers out of it, look them up in a database of already known answers and formulate the response to the server. in a quiz where all answers were known the response would be pretty much instant.

so smack my wrists if you like, I did say I have a devious mind :D

as raver as said to accymel me and raver share a computer at home. i go on in the morning and when he comes home from work i dont get anywhere near it.when all this cheating started i told raver who the cheats were as i used to sit here and watch them do it sad yes.when i asked raver how people were doing it he eventually put me on the right track.so i created brynbo2004 and went on global challenge to see if it worked. it didnt as the questions are never the same.so ontuesday of this week i tried it on here after already playing under my own name of rishton blue and found out when going on as brynbo2004the questions were the same so i did it as fast as i could but intentionally got one wrong.so yesterday i went on as brynbo2004 first then again as rishton blue when i got one wrong on purpose again as norwich stanley had already got 10 and as he was the only one who had played i took his score as genuine.my intentions for doing this was not to cheat but to prove to myself how other people were doing it .i will wait for feedback before deciding whether to continue playing this game again.by the way good luck to norwich stanley in the all love stanley league i am brynbos blues on there..hoping that this explanation clears a few things up sorry for any offense caused especially to accymel who certainly doesnt deserve this.
once again i apologise unreseredly and hope you realise my intentions were not to cheat.

Quiz Now Open!

Due to recent events i have secured the quiz so that no cheating takes place & will come down to luck of the draw as far as questions are concerned, leaving the server to run the pool of questions rather than me manually setting, as there is a flaw with manual set questions that the cheaters are now well aware of & been ilfultrating this past few weeks that the same isp gets the same questions no matter how many play on that isp, mmmm funny how the cheaters with the fakies have been running off the same isp - FACT!

SO now each individual player will now get their own questions in random order from now on. Sorry it has come to this but with the amount of cheating that has taken place its left me with no option & that at least 2 people or more in one household/pc do not get the same Q's & avoids the temptation & suspicion - plus makes it fair to everyone but does mean selective variation of pool q's cant take place unfortunately.
