I'm not sure, but I was telling a mate's wife about the quizes on Global Trivia on Monday, when a lunch turned into a sixteen hour booze session, and we ended up playing quizes on the Play Station. I said I'd send her a link to the Global Trivia quiz, but then forgot all about it when I'd sobered up.:o

This evening I had a pm on Global Trivia off someone called Monkeyface, and it turns out it's Bev, my mate's missus. The little Miss Marple has beaten most of us in today's regional quiz. I must presume it's her, but she's off line at the moment so can't confirm this.

Sorry rules are Rules if people hadn't of took the pis$ i wouldnt be in the situation & anyone could join, as i told my dad people doing the accywebbers quiz must be a member of Accyweb & must least post in here!!!

Sorry Rindy & anyone else who has mates non accyweb members, they must make themselves a member of accyweb, intro themselves in usual channel & post here so that person can be confirmed also they must use their accyweb username - even add numbers at end so that it'll accept if it was taken.

Sorry i have had to take the hard line & some trust has gone, even people was questioning people in shout box yesterday & doing it this way avoids the spats!

Quite agree Mel. It was only in a drunken haze that I mentioned we had a quiz on here, I didn't think she'd play, and it was only late last night when she'd worked out who I was on Global Trivia, and sent me a pm using that name that I realised I knew her.

Hey Mel, had an idea concerning evenning out the scores after "AccyWebGate." To bring the scores to a more even state, maybe asking "the accused" to forfeit playing 3 - 4 games. That would allow all the other players a chance to catch back up.

One can just look at the top ten scores and see how it's off- balance due to "The Incident!":rolleyes: Just a thought for those trying to fight fairly for the top 10 positions!

That was a bit freaky,

had a window open on teh front page from yesterday, hit refresh to see who had played today, got teh mainainence message, waited a few mins and hit teh back button and it took me into a game!!!! I wasn't ready to play as I was listening to my course tutor so had to do it 'on teh sly'

Exactly, I remember it being said that people had to use the shout box or post an intro on Accy Web to play. This wouldn't have been raised again if people hadn't tried to prove the competition could be cheated, allegedly.

The more people playing, the bigger the challenge, and more fun, which is what this is supposed to be after all, a bit of fun.:)

Oh Brian :) Go easy on Mel. It's the cheaters you should blame. After little 'quizgate' no body is above suspicion and she still gets people moaning about cheaters. It is just fun, it's just some spoilt it for others by cheating. I'm sure Mel will sort it out :)

I have to admit im getting a little upset about the quiz being spoilt & that im having to enforce rules like school kids but im left with no choice, i have pm'd Brian to explain the situ & as i've said to him unfortunately my job as host has just got even more complicated & frustrating because im having to referee all the time & yet ive got to be fair to all & ive got to stick to what i say - otherwise i would be a bad host:(

Please can we stop with the bickering & please assure that i have the quiz in hand & the only people that should be ashamed of themselves is the cheaters themselves for spoiling it for everyone & making my life hell atm :( SO please can we get back to normal & start enjoying the quiz now :D

Right, cheating, I saw an opportunity to produce a fast time and took it, in this month we are talking about 3 days max on a subject that I can do very well anyway. Life is all about making the most out of any opportunities that present themselves, I will never be upset about being awake to opportunities and IF THEY DON'T HURT ANYONE, I will happily take them, thats why some people get on in life.

Hang my head in shame, nope I won't. I'm happy to not play for 3-4 days if Mel decides thats a fair 'punishment' for being devious but I've already deliberately missed 2 days and I'm still 2nd (behind mthead who hasn't missed any days yet).

As it stands, there is a long time to still go in this month and if you want to win you have to put in some effort.

I'm thankful to mel (as she knows) for organising the quiz, its a bit of fun that brings out a competitive spirit in people, I'm one of those who like being competitive, I will ALWAYS, try to do my absolute best to win. Its part of my natural makeup.

Fair do's entwisi there's a time and a place to make sure you win at any cost. I'd happily tie someone up and throw them in the boot of the car if they were going for the same job as me and I thought they'd be a better candidate ....... but come on this is just your mates off accyweb. Cheating didn't prove anything about how clever you are (and I do think your clever and I know mthead is) so why cheat? I just don't get it!

You were also the 1st one to do it, others followed suit because you did it, so instead of setting a standard of a cracking score to be beaten at the top of the scoreboard, you just set the standard to see who could cheat the best.

As I said, I still see it as finding the best way to answer the questions. Yes it's mates on accyweb but lets be honest, you were probably all thinking how did I do it. Also it also actually started in Mixed bag as we are in now, I noticed that there was a lot of repeated questions, It was only when it was switched to fixed Qs that I noticed when watching Bills Qs that they were all the same but in different order. I can see that shortly we will all start getting repeated Qs again (even though funtrivia reckon to have increased their Q pool). at what point is it considered cheating if I was to get 10 repeated Qs, am I expected to take my time with the answers or something just because I have a good memory?

At what point does a line get drawn under all this, Mel has tried to move this on by resetting the rules and I am in a way happy that she did. what it did do is pointout that there will usually be a way to get an advantage and it shouldn't be as easy as it was. Mel probably wasn't aware of how easy it was. Now she does even if it was Raver that initially spilled the beans it was me who found teh flaw.

Mel had alreay drawn a line under it, it's just the bad feeling that cheating has caused. I don't think, and I'm sure a few will agree with me, that it should ever be mentioned again. Mel enjoys the banter not the bickering.

Listen entwisi, I don't think I'm the only one thinking that it just comes across your being sour because you got caught. Don't mention it anymore and we wont, what's done is done, you found the flaws, fair dos, but lets get back to having some fun with it ;)

can you explaijn what you mean by this, it is now a level playing field (untill the next flaw is identified) so you have as much chance as the rest of us.

now I'm confused, in one breath its wrong to look for an advantage in a quiz but perfectly OK to do the same against the taxman? Isn't that double standards????? Oh and does getting over 80% of the income tax Julie and I paid last year back from him count as getting one over? :D

Instead of scroll get used to using 'Page down' that will speed you up a fair bit( you may need to do a few to get used to it though).

fast computers aren't needed, using Firefox or opera will speed up page rendering by a small amount as well.

If you want to get a browser that REALLY flies, Dillo is now in beta for windows. This little browser is amazingly fast but isn't as well featured as some :D . Dillo for Windows You need both the binary package and teh DLLS, extract all to a folder somewhere and run it. As said its beta so expect some bugs but you will see just how fast browsers could be!

Not happy, i got 8/10. The game said that i didn't answer one of the questions. I definately did, & it was the correct one. It would have put me top (for a while anyway).

It's happened to me. If you press back really quickly you can check your answers, though not change them!

Mine was a mistake. I thought I'd clicked the right answer but trying to be Speedy Gonzales, hit the wrong one.

In all the games I've played on Mel's quiz and Global Trivia I've never known it to be wrong, just me not hitting the button I thought I'd hit.

I dont know if most of you are aware - those on Burnleyweb while accy was down are - i've put a poll up on their anything goes [daren't put the direct link in case cross reference posting isn't allowed] so the main link is Burnleyweb as to whether we co join the quiz with the burnleywebbers that are interested or whether they have their own as im ok to run both or whether it makes sence to co join & make the compo bigger - again same rules apply!!

I will set up a poll in AW too as to whether u all mind or not & at the end will collate all results from each forum & go with the majority???
