New blue bag ?

Ok, somebody was going to mention this .. suppose better be me.

You got the new blue bag today which is replacing the blue box ?

Has got handles with velcro strap to seal and wide square base .. good solid bag, came with a note to say easier to handle than blue box. Well, yes, fed up with water dripping through the holes onto my clothes every time I carry from back to front. Will still have to go outside though, as have no more room in my pantry for another bag of waste.

Just that I read last week that they were addressing the problem of waste blowing away in the wind as per last month. Can't see that this will have anything to do with that as, at least, you could try and ram your other bags in the blue box.

Quite expected a Nori brick turning up for this exercise, so am a little confused

Don't know Magpie .. mine appears to 'have walked' today, so looks like someone took it. Next doors still there, but they do hide it behind a bush ..:D
The new bag was left outside on plant pot .. and could easily have blown away !! Leaflet pushed through door telling me to ignore the writing on the bag as outdated (was obviously meant for paper at one time). Feel that I am being wound up somehow .. but no, can't be. The plot thickens.

Willow: don't let your Willow go too green .. sure you will be next.

Sounds a bit, er.....rubbish!

The blue box provides somewhere secure to put the other sacks.

I can see this blue bag creating more litter on a windy day.

I take it this new 'blue bag' still requires glass items only still?

no sign of them up bash!

Glass is safer in a box than a bag surely - if it breaks it can't poke through a box.

Yes, Panther, telling you to put glass bottles and jars in it ... is very strong type material so think will hold them quite well.

Just been next door, they didn't get one .. am I being singled out ? Still suspicious.. :( Have E-mailed my enquiry to HBC .. will have to wait to see what they come up with.

Perhaps they're testing it out on the alcoholics, those with lots of bottles, first.:D

Actually, you are incorrect with your information about me ... get around this problem by drinking 'cartons' of wine .. :p

Re: New blue bag ?

well in blackburn we have blue bags and white bags (not as posh as yours) for paper, card, magazines etc...a green box for tins, cans bottles etc, a brown wheely bin for garden waste(hedge cuttings twigs and grass) and we have a black wheely bin for the rest,we've had these for 3 1/2 years now.....imagine my confusion when we where told we could have another bin for discarded food

WillowTheWhisp 17-02-2007 19:37

Re: New blue bag ?

I don't put the blue box out every time because we don't seem to have much glass. I wonder what will happen if they swap over one week and I still have my box because I didn't put it out?

Busman was telling me today of somewhere he'd driven past where if they don't take the wheelie bins back in when they've been emptied they get a notice stuck on them. What are you supposed to do when you're out at work? Get time off on bin day to put your wheelie bin back???

same here, I hardly put mine out every 2 weeks, more like once a month!!

I put glass and tins in mine what are you meant to do ?

flashy 17-02-2007 21:04

Re: New blue bag ?

well our black wheely bins only get collected every other week, its been like that for years, it gets a bit annoying when you have a lot to throw out such as old toys when tidying the childs room etc...seems accrington is a bit behind blackburn

panther 17-02-2007 21:05

Re: New blue bag ?

just put glass in blue box

flashy 17-02-2007 21:07

Re: New blue bag ?

all our glass n cans n tins go in the same box, that seems a bit strange only putting glass in it, surely that would mean paying more people to do the job of collecting more recycling bins rather than just collecting one

panther 17-02-2007 21:11

Re: New blue bag ?

we used have the same but for some reason the bloody council changed it!!

Re: New blue bag ?

Must admit all credit to HBC for quick reply to my E-Mail:-

"Thank you for your enquiry .. the bag you have received has been delivered to you in error, it is a bag given to residents who cannot lift their blue box. I have arranged for your box to be returned to you as soon as possible."

OK. which neighbour saw me tottering over on my stilettos whilst carrying blue box OR which Accywebber thought I was in need of help after observing at the last monthly meet, that I was a little unsteady on my feet?

flashy 19-02-2007 17:26

Re: New blue bag ?

never had a blue box! they apparently were left on the front path, long ago, when we discovered everyone had one n we didn,t paris rang em up---- no problem madam we will drop one off, 6 months later rang again wheres the blue box? -- what blue box--- the one you promised us n never delivered.--- oh sorry no record of that--- well we want one---- ok we will drop one off --- are you sure? --- positive madam. in next 7/10 days.---that was over 1 year ago i think,we was away when the original box was delivered,so its obviously been snaffled as a toy box or summat i suppose.

Just to let you know the conclusion of this little drama

Got a brand new blue box delivered yesterday AND with a lid .. :p
Only got one item though yet in 10 days, bottle that contained my Caesar dressing, looks a little lonely.

Cashman, try their E-mail system .. seemed to work for me .. at least they have something to print out and not just verbal, which is easily forgotton.
