Clayton le Moors for the ultra posh?

I have been told that a gated community is planned for the area behind Whalley Rd? How upmarket is this going to be and does anybody know anything about it?

This is supposed to be somewhere around that area between the canal, Mill Street and Whalley Road.

Think this looks great beechy. Love those black railings with gold tops ..now, they are posh.

Nowt in planning applications as yet .. but, let's wait and see. Not knocking my little home town, but don't think the area warrants this ? Gated estates are usually associated with the wealthy, 'cause they have plenty to protect, and can't see that they would wish to move to Clayton ... 'cept is easy motorway access. Well, bring it on then, could be the start of something good.

Any photos of the said Mill St area, used to be a slum years ago, with a newsagents at the top of the street, from the poor people who lived there now the rich, interesting.

I took a couple of photos down there yesterday so here they are. It's called Mill Entrance, not Mill Street - I got that bit wrong.

I also took a couple of Barnes Square's enclosed garden :D What the heck is all that about?

Yes, Mill Street is one street closer to Accrington. It will probably be incorporated into the thing anyway. Or it may all change. The one further down than Mill Entrance is the entrance to Mill House, the masonic lodge.

Someone could probably tell us the history of the mill and Mill House. I presume there was a weaving mill or something on that site at one time and the main entrance to it was down Mill Entrance. Mill House the residence of the mill owner?

Yea, I remember it now, the Mill was Dr Lovelaces, soap factory, I think a girl called Linda Ball lived in Mill House as I remember it, Looks nice now,

Re: Clayton le Moors for the ultra posh?

Oooh is THAT where the soap factory was? Well I never knew that.

The house would look heaps nicer if the windows weren't all bricked up as is the wont with Masonic Lodges.
