Bad Pub Guide

Name and shame in here :D

Mine goes to the cabin End at Knuzden, used to be a really good place about 20 year since, used to go over regular on a Sat night.
Now - a disgrace
Filthy, run down (derelict might be a better term :D) and ale I couldn't drink
If it wasn't for the amount of people in the function room I can't see how they would have made any money last night, they had a karaoke in the pub part and half a dozen people sat round one table in there all night

Aaah shame you didn't make the Red Cap, was in there myself last night with Mez and the gals. Would have had the pleasure of our company...:)

Still we did move on to Willow Mount ... now, that was fun ...
No, did sorta' enjoy it though, even though I was using the wrong colour of bingo card on one game, and the singer had a transparent shirt on that showed his man boobs. ... LOL

One thing I just remembered about the cabin end.
The ceiling had red material fastened to it, looked like a padded headboard, circles cut out of it where the lights were, weren't finished off or owt, just a big hole cut in it, they even forgot to cut holes in a few of the lights, would love to see if that met the fire regulations :D

Can anyone tell me the name of the Pub by Church Kirk - I used to go in there with my Dad after watching cricket at West End, walked back along the canal. Best pint of Thwaites i can remember - there was a stream flowing through the cellar and the sacks were draped over the barrels and into the stream - the beer was so cold.
There was also a Duttons pub further down - about half way to the Queens.

The brewery (Thwaites) must think these are bad pubs cos they're sellin 'em

Accrington: The Adelphi, Avenue Parade.

Blackburn: The Plane Tree, Whalley Old Road; Sportsman’s Arms, Shear Brow; Gibraltar, Gibraltar Street.

Colne: The Commercial Hotel, Skipton Road.

Darwen: The Mill Gap, Bolton Road; The George, Bolton Road.

Padiham: The Victoria Hotel, Burnley Road.

The Hyndburn Bridge. Popped in there for a teatime pint with a mate of mine after a full day doing the accounts and it was diabolical. The pub and furnishings, although not being in bad repair, just screamed out of some punters and something to make it inviting. Lighting the log fires is a surefire winner. The beer wasn't kept properly and the landlord seemed not to want our custom. We left fairly quickly.

Now The Royal in Great Harwood.....proper pub!

Went out Te window with the demise of the tap room in favour of wide open spaces, plastic flowers and piped background music:(

I would like to add to this list.

I suspect it is the Stop and Rest, even though the Heys Inn is nearer to me.

Their locals are attempting to sing karaoke style and they can be clearly heard across the space between me and them, which happens to be the size of 4 football fields.

Any pub that permits such levels of bad noise isn't a good pub:(

PS It must be a pub - a home barbie would have already been told to 'shut it' by neighbours.

I sincerely apologise to the Stop and Rest pub.

Rhyddings Park, Oswaldtwistle

http://www.superact.org.uk/ourbiggig...-gig-is-here-1

"Alan Davey, Chief Executive, Arts Council England said: ‘Our Big Gig will be a real summer highlight. Up and down the country, communities will be involved in running their own music events, in a range of venues, introducing audiences to new bands, artists and styles of music. This is a great opportunity for communities to think big, to nurture home grown talent, and to come together, in celebrating the many joys that music can bring. I can’t wait to see the results.’

It was a 'music' event:rolleyes: - though that 'event' should have ended over 2hours ago.

I am not entirely outdated.

Of my three grandsons, two are into 'trendy music' - one is a drummer in an indie rock band, and the other composes electronic music, has had tracks recorded and they sell - and I like to hear them !

I know when singing is out of tune, just as I know how to cringe when a blackboard gets scratched.

Last year in Morecambe almost every weekend there was live music on the prom for most of the day about half a mile from where we live. Most of it THAT BAD and we couldn't get away from it even at that distance. Hasn't started again this year yet, probably will when the school holidays are in full siwng. OK yes I admit it I'm getting old.

Re: Bad Pub Guide

When I heard it, I thought that it was someone in a car below my window - that loud - really !

I am 4 football fields away - how people who live on Fielding Lane reacted, I dread to think.

Summer should not be an excuse to cause noise nuisance - we have laws against it, don't we?

PS this was 'music' in the same way as 'crotcheted spirals' was art.

You may have 'industrial deafness'.

"The distance of travel of any sound depends on several factors. Some of these are:

1. Wind direction [sound waves are enhanced downwind of the source.
2..Temperature of the air [the cooler/denser the air is, the greater the travel distance].
3. Within some limitations, higher humidity will enhance the travel distance of sound."

"The distance that sound wave can travel and be heard is also a property of the air's temperature gradient. When the air near the ground is warmer than the air at higher elevations, then sound refracts (or bends) upward. Similarly, when the air is cooler near the ground (or water surface) than at higher elevations, the sound refracts (or bends) downward."

Distance travelled can vary according to environmental factors

Whereas, the annoyance factor of such an event is equal to or greater than the enjoyment derived from complaining about something that was enjoyed by a lot more people, it's been and gone, why not get back to counting pollen or whatever you normally find to https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...mvZvPopDfRKrXg about.
