Trop fish plants Real? Plastic?
 

We have put all real plants in our tank.. However one has all but died and others are being broken and bits falling off..

Plastic look as good if not better

They dont need real plants.

Real plants can have or produce disseases

Fish in real plant tanks mate a lot more.

I am thinking take out real and put in plastic... what are others using?

I could only ever get one type to stay alive in mine and it grew like hell at times, had to keep cutting the top off it and you could place that in the gravel and it would grow, think its called cabomba or something like that. Try again when your tank is fully matured.

Most plants are dieing before you put them in the tank.. As K.S.H says plants take a lot better in a mature tank.

Had a quick gander on ebay expecting there to be loads to choose from and hardly anything.. just two adverts for plastic plants.. one with 10 and another with 3 and an odd one i bought... Surprised not more

i know theve got a half decent collection in harwood shop...mine are doign ok at the moment kipax saying that i did take them all out yesterday and undo the bottem lead wrap and get rid of the dead bits ad well as a lot of gunk in the bottem!

i bought a collection for around £15 from a website - lovely plants cant fault them but they bought with them some kinda algae which wasnt in my tank b4 and its possibly the most stubborn of its kind. sometimes even scraping it wont remove it!!

as said above mature tanks have a certain amount of nutrients in the gravel that the plants can soak up so have a better chance of survival...
try plant fertiliser too - a cap every week or so...

some plastic ones are really realistic i think those look ok but depending on what fish u have soem prefer real broad leafed plants...
