Re: Fishing

I dug my rod out last month and started fishing again :D At the moment, I have only tried the canal at Clayton (shallow and overgrown with weeds but pulled out a decent size bream) Carnforth, (Couldn't stop pulling out small perch) and Foulridge (must have picked a bad time of the day - or the fish were told I was coming:eek:)

I am trying out Blackburn tonight and Willow is tagging along  She promises to be quiet :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Re: Fishing

I fish all over the place locally, but tend to stick to a place at Charnock Richard called German Lane that's stacked out with Carp and Tench (the obvious giveaway in my signiture name!!)

I was a member of Hyndburn & Blackburn A.A. up until a few years ago, but gave up membership due to various demands upon my time!!! From what I've heard, they've (H & B A.A.) lost a fair few waters. Anyone on here a member ????

The last time I fished Kearns Allens (which was some 3 years or so ago) the bottom lodge seemed to fish better and was quite popular. Don't know if that's still the case tho!!

Last time I went up is was all chineese imported tat, but thats a while ago...

I'd be suprised if the tackle was by known manufacturers, Diawa, shimino ect.

I use allsorts of baits, but my faves are the good old castors and hemp, ultra reliable for me.:D

Any of those places free to fish. I went to this pay for the day fishing place behind accrington college near some warehouses looked nice to fish but couldnt catch anything. However i went to the canal yesterday in clayton and pulled out a nice pike there. There seems to be a few in the canal at this time of year and it was a good size aswell :):)

spud 19-11-2007 10:04

Re: Fishing

If you are a beginner, I would leave it till at least march. The falling water temp turns the fish docile and slows down their feeding and movement patterns. If you are really keen to fish my advice is use much finer/lighter tackle(floats, lines) and smaller hooks also usr much less groundbaits/loosefeed.

Best of look, I'm hibernating for the winter!

Not sure FC. think it was maybe didn't fancy getting the hook out of it's mouth..

I only used to catch eels I'm afraid, probably because there is no way would I put one of the wriggling maggots on a hook and used bread... just had to cut the line though when you caught one.

Even, as just a mere woman .. lol ... do appreciate the feeling you get when there is that tug on the line .. good, innit it ?

Just watch where you keep your maggots though!!Three times they got on the loose .. once from boot of car, and flies emerging through blowers for ages; then he must have left some whilst we went on holiday.. on return flies all over the bloody front window and bedhead; thirdly, one night they were marching along like a troop of soldiers under living room door. Not pleased at all. :D

Fishing is OK if you kill what you catch and take it home to eat.

Fishing for SPORT is CRUEL and should be banned.

In fact any so called sport that uses any other living beings other than humans to determine the outcome should be banned.

I do apologise shakermaker. I wasn’t aware that I wasn’t allowed to have an opinion that differs to others. Learn to debate.

shakermaker is too stupid to think of a counter response to my opinion about fishing so he reverts to insulting me. But then that is par for his coarse. I would remind you shakermaker that it wasn’t me who started with the insults so I will answer you in kind. Get lost you obnoxious creep.

I don’t recall mentioning anything except fishing steeljack.

Oh! I get it! You do not have the intelligence to make your point so you put words in my mouth and add a childish innuendo. How sad! Maybe you should start taking some tablets?
Quote:

But a hook, barbed or otherwise, still causes damage Nickleson and the fish is then placed back to be caught again to be damaged once more.

I would remind you that Nature or God put the animals on this planet as part of a food chain. So killing a fish is a natural activity. Would you deny a bear the right to catch salmon as the fish desperately try to swim upstream to spawn? Catching one on a hook, weighing it, showing it off to all the others and then putting it back to be caught again is downright CRUEL.

My whole point was that you weren't presenting an opinion. "Learn to debate" you say - how rich. How are you trying to debate at all? You were quite clearly trying to impose your moral views as universal rules; e.g. "Fishing is OK if kill what you catch and take it home to eat" or "Fishing for SPORT is CRUEL and should be banned." or "In fact any so called sport that uses any other living beings other than humans to determine the outcome should be banned."

There's no "my opinion is..." or "it is my view that.." Oh no.
What we are told is "this is this" and "this should be this". This is the Gospel according to jambutty. The Three Commandments for fishing.
Halle-bloody-lujah.

If you want to impose your morals as rules for others then run for Parliament or get a geriatric guerrilla army together, just don't disguise them as innocent opinion.

Not having a constructive argument against my view on fishing shakermaker you attempt to pour scorn and ridicule on it by calling them the “Three Commandments For Fishing” and then turn right around and shoot yourself firmly in the foot and accuse me of “disguising them as innocent opinion.”

Now which is it to be? My statements are instructions or opinions.

You are so intent on your tirade that you just chuck down your usual load of rubbish without thought. Talk about making yourself look ridiculous.
