Bird Watching

Hi, Was just wondering if there are any birders out there. Seeing how far afield Accy Webbers are thought it would be nice to know what is around your part of the world especially when migration starts. Am not a twitcher or an anorack!!

My dad put all the bird boxes up at arden hall and they seem to attract alot of birds, there is also the coppice and there is a small woodland area just off Burnley Road at the top and Woodpeckers have been nesting there as me Dad has been making sure that the young dont die!!

I used to be a Member of the RSPB and frequently went to places like Marton Mere, but today I'm restricted to watching the local Sparrowhawk having fun around my gaff

Yeah he is, he has a allotment and some kids (wont swear!!) broke in last week and nicked all of his bird feeders and tipped over his big drums of water he has saved from the rain to water his plants. We wernt happy as they have no respect
He also put bat boxes up to attract them to Arden Hall aswell :)

Two years, we have bats around but haven't enticed them yet. It was only a bat box from a garden centre think I need something more robust.

Re: Bird Watching

Plenty round here in the spring we have the Starlings & at present we've got Swifts nesting in the roof, always a couple of Woodies,Crows & Magpies floating about, a little too big for the feeding table but they manage, plus all the usual avians Tits, Finches & Sparrows.

Over the last couple of years we've been getting Canada & Egyptian Geese turning up at the lake, this year the Egyptians have stayed on & around the lake with 3 gosling's.
