Airfix kits

1 Attachment(s)
It appears I've created a monster at work...

Basically some time ago a colleague and I were chatting about making airfix models when we were kids and we both were enthusiatic about teh fun they brought so one day a few weeks ago I bought 2 identical kits for Spitfires and challanged him to an "Airfix-off". The results were these 2 "beauties" (Attached below )

after being judged a "draw" another round was called for and I opened the challenge around the team. The model of choice for this round is the Aston Martin DBR9. ( Airfix Aston Martin DBR9 Gulf Model Kit )

So far we have 16 old blokes all hell bent on re-living those evenings stuff to bits of plastic with ploy cement!

I'm in the middle of making an Airfix kit of Trevithics 1804 loco, amongst otherthings. I normally make wooden sailing ships as a preferance.

The Barber I went to in Ossy when I was a kid had loads of airfix models on display in his shop and even more in his home, the shop was opposite what is now the Civic Theatre at the top of Monarch Street where I lived, the Barber was called Jim Kershaw, his daughter is a member on here but I haven't sen her on for a while

Back in the 1970's, an acquaintance of mine was renowned for making models out of spent match-sticks. Alongside his models of Blackpool Tower and Carnarvon Castle, he made a working model of Tower Bridge which was shown on TV after winning some sort of national award. He lived somewhere in Clayton-le-moors, but don't recall his name.

Wow, Alan, that beats having a copy of Lancashire Life on your coffee table-some talking point! You've been allowed to build it on there for three years??
You must be very patient, if we live long enough it would be nice to see a picture of the finished ship,or can you show us its progress?

I'd be so lucky, placed it there for the photo shoot, I'm relegated to the loft and sometimes i'm allowed to use the spare bedroom in weather such as this. If i disobey to much i don't think it would be a spare bedroom for long. :D:D:D
