David Tennant quits as The Doctor

David Tennant has quit as The Doctor on live television tonight.

Whilst accepting his award for Outstanding Drama Performance, he announced that he would do the 4 specials next year and then Doctor Who would continue without him.

Don't actually watch the program but from what I've read they say he's the best Dr Who ever, he will be hard to replace

I am old enough to have watched the first Dr. Who with William Hartnell .. who was never meant to be any type of sex object, but an excellent actor none the less and liked his interpretation as an older, wise man.

All the portrayals have been varied and enjoyable watching. Think the series has got better due to better effects and filming, etc., and helps to glorify the current Dr. Who. Yes, David Tennent is an excellent actor, and sure we will be seeing a lot more of him in varying dramas, etc.

I do enjoy the change in the title character, and look forward to the choice of the new one.

Totally agree with you.

It is rather sad though that some younger women use their hormones to appraise the quality of an actor.

I think Christopher Eccleston should get a mention. He brought his own, rather quirky, style to The Doctor. David Tennant is a good actor but it was Eccleston who brought the part up-to-date.

Anyway, Dr Who, to me, will always be Tom Baker with that long scarf. He was the one when my children were being scared half to death by the daleks. :D

Yes, I liked Christopher Eccleston too, and you have rather said what I was just going to .. that Dr. Who should have a large amount of eccentricity, and didn't feel David Tennent did this too well, always felt he was more of an Earth bound character, rather than one that floats around in time ..just my opinion however.

I can tell you as a male ( young and older ) I have been swayed by the looks of a woman to judge her acting ability :D. Maybe it's a human thing ;)

I have no idea where I remember this from but I think it was from either an article I read or an interview David Tennant gave but I seem to have known he wasn't going to continue as the doctor anyway so it came as no surprise to me... in fact I was more surprised at people's reactions as I thought everyone knew....

does that class me as psychic???????

Rumours have been abound since Russell T Davies announced he was stepping down. But David Tennant himself had never actually confirmed it.
