The Boat that Rocked

The Boat That Rocked, when I saw the blurb on this film it immediately took my mind back to the early days of Radio Caroline, before that there was little or no "Pop Music" on the radio, certainly not on the BBC. The Pirate Radio stations eventually forced the BBC to launch Radio 1, the good old days as they say

Was just as much music in the background Jaysay, all that oscillating (think that is the correct word .. :D).

I loved Pirate Radio and it was Tony Benn who closed them down, making it a criminal offence to give them food! He pretended it was messing up the emergency services which was absolute rubbish and so we ended up with the xxxxxx awful Radio 1

Didn't know a thing about this until I noticed this thread...what a great film this looks! Radio Caroline North (and Radio London, whose signal could be picked up at night up North) were the soundtrack to my life in the mid-60's. Must go to the pictures to see this film ASAP! :)

Cheers, Wadey. Sounds very enjoyable, and a great soundtrack. As the review concludes, "just close your ears when Duffy starts up." :D

Yeah, that just about sums it up. How can she possibly even inhabit the same soundtrack as ladies like Martha & the Vandellas and Dusty Springfield. She's not fit to backcomb their beehives! :D

Johnny Walkers was on Breakfast TV last week taking about it and comparing it to his real life experiences in the sixties
