Re: Sky issues?
While we are on the subject of Sky -
I have had a letter from Hyndburn Homes which tells me that before the HD starts in November, they will be relacing the communal TV ariel with one which will operate with Sky and FreeSat as well as 'normal' Tv. Is is possible that a communal ariel can do all that? All customers own ariels and Skydishes will be removed. Rent will be increasing to cover this upgrade. |
Re: Sky issues?
I have had that a few times.....(no satellite signal) all I do is switch box off, switch off at socket, switch everything back on and it's usually ok after that........try that if it happens again (saves paying for a phone call to sky :D

They will need to provide 2 satellite feeds to each flat for those people using Sky+. In my opinion they should install 3 satellite feeds for those people with an extra sky box in the bedroom. I would be surprised if they give you 2 satellite feeds, 3 and I will be amazed. This is the problem with communal dishes. With your own dish you get 4 feeds as standard. |
Re: Sky issues?
Thanks for that info Neil. They have said that they will supply one room and any extra rooms will be £70 a time.
Please clarify whether I have understood right - they be putting two cables into each room that you want tv reception in? I am tempted to pay £70 extra for the bedroom, because I have a portable tv and freeview box lying about doing nothing at the moment, which I could (hopefully) still find usable for the bedroom. |

Re: Sky issues?
I don't know why you have multi room when there is only one person living in the flat. The only advantage is if you want HD in the bedroom and that can be got around.
A Sky box has 2 RF outputs. The second one works with a magic eye as well. You run a coax cable from RF output 2 to your bedroom TV. The magic eye pugs into the coax as well. Then your Sky remote will change the channel on the sky box when you are in the bedroom. No £70 to install and no multiroom charge each month. |
