I am half way through watching it. It is a bit too horrific to watch all in one go.
The use of children as state spies is relevant today, also the fact that they are eating artificial meat and sugar substitutes.

The day after I posted that link, David Cameron refers to the 'Orwellian state'

Of course the man was before his time, he, wanted to call it 1948, but the publishers told him that was too close to their own time and changed the title.

It's only imagination Margaret, the use of children as spies has been relevant throughout history, it is as relevant now as it was in the stone ages, no more or less serious.

Don't worry about artificial foods, just like vegetarians if we eat the wrong things we will die from lack of the correct diet, that is how we evolve. (6 billion people all eating a similar diet on one planet can't all be wrong!).

Who are you to decide what is and what is not a 'correct diet'.

I defend a person's right to choose, but they need an informed choice

Where have you got the notion that evolution depends on diet?
.......bigger nuts (for monkeys) = bigger brains maybe :D

Survival of the fittest not me decides, if I eat meat and you eat nut's, while there is plenty I eat cows, sheep, pigs, if everything starts running out including grass what can you eat? Nothing, me? I still am able to eat meat and a vegetarian is meat, (pass the gravy mother!).:D

I am not vegetarian but at least I can say I tried it for a few years.
We do not come off a production line of a 'people maker'.
Metabolism varies between people in subtle ways and one way as spouted by medics and nutritionists will not work for all people.

Every person is responsible for their own health, so why rely solely on a doc who doesn't know you as well as you do?
You are showing a model T Ford mentality.:)

Just as bull**** in it's many forms on the web does not make something true, so please feel free to believe what you want, but when the rest of us and our families need real medical help, we don't pretend a few bones thrown by a Witchdoctor will cure us, we go to proper Doctors, (when and if available).

A century ago a doc would have drained you using leeches, and prescribed arsenic.
I suspect that in another century we will look back at our docs with the same ridicule.
There are few 'proper doctors' left - it is no longer a vocation - it is a lucrative occupation.

They look at the symptom you describe to them and prescribe a drug to overcome that symptom. If it effects a 'cure' it is incidental and your luck is in.

The 'cure' can sometimes cause yet another 'symptom', and so it goes on until there are some people taking handfuls of drugs every day just to maintain the appearance of living = sad isn't it.

Always a risk of side effects with any drug Margaret ..up to you whether you take it or not.

All I know is that I would not have had my mum until she was 89 if there had not been drugs on the market to steady her irregular heartbeat. No side effects suffered, and took it for 31 years.

My father would not have died at 62 if the anti-coagulant drugs had been available.

Sure no-one will put these in the same class as leeches and arsenic in the future no matter how much medical knowledge improves.

I know what your saying all to well kate, but for modern medicines I wouldn't be around today. I must be great to be able to rely on alternative meds like Margaret does, and more power to her elbow with it, but I don't think herbal remedies would have staved off the severe asthma attack I had a few months ago, nor would they work on this rather nasty chest infection I'm still fighting at the moment, there are pluses and minuses on all sides of both conventional and herbal medications
