Watchdog - what a mess
It is quite a while since I watched this programme and am digusted at how it has deteriorated.
It originally had the purpose of investigating malpractices, and shamed rouges into righting their wrongs. It once actually helped me. That was in the days when Glynn Worsnip was a presenter (1979). He sat at a desk and presented facts. He helped me have a holiday as it was originally booked, and not with the altered itinerary that the holiday company were trying to impose. Watching it now is like watching burlesque - gaudy sets, hand held cameras, noisy 'shouting' presenters - does it really need to be so gaudy to attract an audience? If viewers need gaudy oversensationalism to stay looking, it is a sad reflection on the viewers of today. The original programme had respect of viewers and was feared by rouge traders. The current format is just an overblown, over orchestrated mess. |
Re: Watchdog - what a mess
I haven't watched the programme for years but I expect it's following the trend for "reality" TV. No one seems to want a well presented, factual programme investigating and probing, it's got to be "live action" all the way. By the way, that's no one but you and me, Margaret.

Did Anne Robinson present that programme once?

Re: Watchdog - what a mess
If you mean that Weakest Link woman - yes - she was on the programme I watched tonight. I read that she had joined it recently.
I never liked her before, and even less now. The way some people will demean themselves for money never ceases to amaze me. |
Re: Watchdog - what a mess

Re: Watchdog - what a mess
i used to like this show but they have ruined it..
even though that guy on the bike is in the right i was hoping the bad guy would gob him and his bafoon sidekick what a load of crap and drivel about prams with no real valid point to be made from any of their experiments because i dont know anyone that has ever tossed a pram about with their child in it to the same force of a rodeo bucking bull and that stupid crusade they seem to be trying to push about how evil sunbeds are is pathetic claiming they are just as dangerous as smoking lol, im glad duncan banaitine stood his ground and shut robbinson up even when she tried claiming she had never been in the sun and that a few days over years using a sunbed caused her skin problem the only problem with robbinsons skin is that it died 20 years ago and was replaced with skin stolen from the arse of a cow surely there are more pressing matters other than how well mayonaise comes out of a school uniform .. try not putting mayonaise on your kids butties its no wonder kids are obese - problem solved does anyone remember when they used to use hidden cameras to infiltrate dangerous people like loan sharks or terrorist sells within animal rights groups and not to send some spotty teenager into a gym to get a tan |

Stop moaning and enjoy the part of your life you have left. Keep taking the pill and the Senna Pods, keep off the drink, lock the door when you go to bed and keep your woolly warmers on and you should be good for another ten years. At your age the morning after pill wont work, so let's be careful out there! :):p |
