Oscars

The Hurt Locker gets the Oscar for best film, beating Avatar, not bad for a low budget film

Scandalous really, if any film ever deserved an Oscar it is Avatar...........it is a massive leap forward for the whole cinema experiance and will change the way movies are made in the future but each to their own i guess:rolleyes:

Absolute rubbish. At its very best, this film was no more than an extended Tom and Jerry cartoon and the sooner it's forgotten, the better.

Funny that....i never saw a cat or a mouse, so you have seen both to compare then?

You must be joking. Seeing enough Avatar trailers was bad enough; do you really think I would throw good money away and spend an evening wasted in watching this rubbish? I would have more thrills sat on the toilet for three hours.

I think "The hurt locker" took it for the simple reason it is very relevant & topical to what a lot of people are witnessing & going through with family & friends who are serving at the moment.

Avatar will probably get its accolades in one form or another at a later date, as by all accounts its the direction films will be going in the near future.

Since all the Hollywood crowd are classed as 'self employed' its nothing more than a big tax write off scam , everything is deductable as a legitimate business expense , plus free TV and media advertising for upcoming DVD releases.
Was obvious that Avatar would never get the best movie award since it had only one big name (Sigourny Weaver) in it and actors make up the bulk of the voters.

Personally, I like to see a film with a good plot, well written script, imaginative camerawork and great acting. If films are indeed going the way of a cartoon caper fit only for viewing by those with an IQ of a six year old, then I am afraid you can count me out. Still, I suppose if the contributors to this website are in any way reflective of the wider population, then there will be a market for this dumbed-down tosh.
