The best decade for TV commedy...

My vote goes to the 1970's.

The Two Ronnies - unforgettable, Charley Farley and Piggy Malone - The Phantom Raspberry blower of Old London Town, The Worm that Turned and hundreds of classic sketches.

Morecambe and Wise, Mike Yarwood, The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin, The Good Life and of course the King of commedy Benny Hill - can still see him every day on SKY and he makes me laugh every time.

Porridge with Ronnie Barker - the series was made with John Thaw in mind but luckily it fell to him...

Loved "Are you Being Served" too and "Some mothers do 'ave 'em".
These are there ones I remember but I'm sure there are loads more from the 70's, before and after....

Any thoughts?:D

Loved Dad's Army, Rising Damp, Steptoe, and Fawlty Towers.

Classics, and still funny.

But for every one of those, there were ten more absolute dire comedies in the seventies.

Mind Your Language, It Ain't Half Hot, On the Buses, Love Thy Neighbour, Father, Dear Father, and everything single thing with Derek Nimmo in it.

My vote goes to the eighties.

Comic Strip, French and Saunders, Wood and Walters, Girls on Top, The Young Ones, Saturday Night Live, which showcased the then alternative comedians.

The eighties.

My tittering most era.

:D

The eighties did give us Spitting Image too and Not the Nine o'clock news...

I remember being at my giddiest in the 70's especially with Reggie Perrin!

Forgot all the Carla Lane sit-coms too -luckily never watched Derek Nimoe!

Give me Julian Clary and Fanny the Wonder Dog, over Dick Emry, and John Inman any day.

Just googled him - look what you miss by living overseas.
Very attractive, very funny and very naughty...:D

(Just my kind of humour - suggestive but not vulgar!)

Isn't that always the case whatever decade you're talking about?

Well ,had to look up her too -I'm really stuck back in the 80's -could be a living museum exhibit.

Possible new career?

True but good stuff in quite a few decades, just a matter of weeding out the crap, cos i can't remember what decade most were in. P.S. loved Father Ted n Rab C Nesbitt as well.
