Unwatchable Personalities.
Are there any 'personalities' on TV who get on your nerves so much that you have to switch off the TV or leave the room, therefore rendering any programme they appear on totally unwatchable?
For me its Ant and Dec (no idea which is which, and frankly I don't care) Jeremy Clarkson and the two idiots who he has by his side, and Alan Sugar....... ..oh and that ex sidekick of Alan Sugar who has now made Countdown a complete no-no of a programme to watch. Bring back Jeff Stelling! |

The Apprentice's Margaret Mountford to reunite with Nick Hewer on Countdown | Metro.co.uk
....but then again, I seem to be in a minority :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( |
Re: Unwatchable Personalities.
Keith Lemon....cannot stand him....he makes my flesh creep.
Jeremy Clarkson too....there must be others too, but they aren't springing into my mind right now. |
Re: Unwatchable Personalities.
Can't be doing with Graham Norton , Jonathan Ross and Paxman only on university challenge, but quite like him when he is giving politicos what for , seeing them squirm makes me laugh.
|
Re: Unwatchable Personalities.
Clarkson is an utter and complete clown, can't stand the man, Didn't even know Alan Sugar was now on countdown gave over watching it after Richard Whitely died and Carol Vorderman went too, if Sugar hosts it now won't be back anytime soon.

Re: Unwatchable Personalities.
Sorry folks, (probably get slated for this) but can't agree with you on Clarkson, he's blunt, obnoxious, always good for controversy & raising hackles & that amuses me as the howls & yammers of the indignant & offended make me grin, most of the yammerers are sanctimonious, so far up themselves arris'oles.
Plain speaking nowadays is constantly under threat & when someone speaks their mind (and if we're honest, it's also the view of quite a lot of other people, but those others daren't or are to scared to air their views for fear of being branded some kind of "ist") the false outrage is hypocritical to say the least. If you're talking unwatchable, let's look at Politicos of any denomination you care to mention, self serving, lying, deceitful ....... need I continue ? |

Re: Unwatchable Personalities.
I have a 'thing' about the several young female presenters who have been chosen for their looks and how they sound wasn't considered.
Too many of them screech and I just have to switch off. I choose not to find out their names. No doubt some of you regard them as 'celebrities'. I prefer to pretend they don't exist. |

Son, I understand what you are saying and I defend your right to say it, but I have to disagree with you about Jeremy Clarkson......he isn't just blunt......I could cope with that. He is arrogant, opinionated, egocentric, and gives the impression that no-one else should have an opinion on anything. That is how I see it anyway. Can't be doing with him. When he was born they should have kept the afterbirth and thrown him away. |
Re: Unwatchable Personalities.
With you there Dave, in a world full of the PC brigade it's nice to have someone who speaks a bit of common sense, I also find James May pretty old as well.
Now if we could just get shut of those fools in parliament and Merkel and Sarkozy (but not his wife!) the world would be a better place |

The people who make me shudder and I really can't stand to look at are Keith Lemon and Lady Gaga, and from a different era but for as long as I can remember Charlie Drake - I can't even stand to say his name, I'm cringing at the thought of him as I write this!
I dislike Jeremy Clarkson and the other two idiots, John Cleese makes me want to slap him, Lee Evans and anything slapstick, Gordon Ramsay annoys me, the list goes on!!! |

Others I can't stand: Ant and Dec, Graham Norton, Alan Carr, Michael McIntyre, Gok Wan, "dynamic property experts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer", Jamie Oliver, Carol Vorderman see above. Some of those slated on here I do like: Jeremy Paxman, Adrian Chiles when he talks about football, James May on anything, Gordon Ramsay. Think that's enough to be going on with though there are one or two presenters on Radio 3 who really get up my nose but probably a bit highbrow to mention on here... :hidewall: |

I wish I could borrow her sometime, save me sooo much disappointment.
Meanwhile, I see the adverts usually starting a month before, I work on the principle, if the advert is annoying once every 15 minutes the prog' is going to be alot worse. Usually works, who needs to be begged to watch something interesting such as, well, Blue Planet? |
Re: Unwatchable Personalities.
There's really no one, that aggravates me that much.
I just don't watch programmes, if they were likely to irritate me. I think part of the problem are the TV companies themselves. If someone's deemed successful in one particular field, the next step will be mass saturation. It's all very unimaginative on their part, and leads to audiences becoming jaded, about certain, so called, personalities. This has been the case, for many of those people mentioned in this thread. Mary Portas. She's the latest. Knows her ladies separates. But please. Old ginger bob's elevation to economic saviour of Britain, is pish poor television, thanks to the dullard commissioning editors. |
One of the great advantages of living alone is not having to put up with someone elses idea of entertainment.
I can watch or not watch, I'm not having sit and squirm because the other person needs to watch yet another ficticious wedding and murder plot supposedly purporting to ordinary 'street', life. Nor am I having to record such things as The Sky At Night, or Horizen because my partner claims they are boring, (when what they mean is, they haven't got enough between the ears to understand what's going on, (most of the time neither have I, but I'm willing to learn)). |

Just seen this thread-the awful thing is that I don't know any of the presenters you all mention.:(
Except, that is, for Jeremy Clarkson & co who I actually find quite amusing. I like the way JC says exactly what he thinks and doesn't give a hoot for being politically correct - more of the same as far as I'm concerned. |

TV in Italy, as a rule is naff, I don't watch it unless forced - except for Who wants to be a Milionaire, which isn't on at the moment. The presenter of this is called Gerry Scotti and he's about the only only decent presenter on all the channels available. He also does Italia's got talent which finished on Saturday - had half an eye on it as I was doing something else, that's mostly naff too! Just had a look on Youtube to see if I could find one of the best acts to post. A guy wearing old fashioned white underpants and big white wings who flew about singing Robie Williams "Angel" - he wasn't bad;):D |

Agree on Ant and Dec and Jonathan Woss too.
The one that really makes my skin crawl is Chris Tarrant. Hate it the way he sucks in every few sentences. Although I think Zoe Ball is probably a lovely lady, when she takes over from Ken Bruce (on Radio 2), whilst he is on holiday, she always appears very nervous, and doesn't make it easy listening. |
