Jason and the Argonauts, used to be on every Christmas holidays in the seventies.

Or seemed to be.

Sword fighting skeletons.

Fab.

Well, it entertained me.

At least for the first two or three years, that they showed it every Yuletide.

Remember the Ghost stories that used to be shown on Boxing Day eve or New Years and they were always really scarey, even though they weren't all Hollywood effects - that was back in the 70's.

i remember "armchair thriller" the silhouette hands on the chair and that music {shudders**

Ya that was before the Sunday supplements in every newspaper who started publishing listings for free, wonder if anybody still gets Radio Times, or even if its still published:confused:

When the ghost story finished it was often the last thing on TV before it went off! And you had to go to bed!

Watched it loads of times too -always scared me that big statue thing they had to fight!

Anything with Kirk Douglas was pretty good too: I think he did someting like Ulisses. The Vikings was brill and of course Spartacus which was an Easter classic along with Ben Hur and The Robe!

The Land that Time forgot too -there was also The Poseidon Adventure with good old Ernest Borgnine.

Back in the 70's the streets would go quiet early, if there was a TV series every body wanted to watch, like the Bionic Man the Fugitive or something. :D As there were no video's things couldn't be recorded.

and we all talked about it at school/work cos it was the only thing anybody watched, either that or standing for hours in variety video on broadway (eighties), can still see the top hat now
