Accrington - Stansfield
 

I am researching a family tree for a family in Grimsby NE Lincs, James Robert Stansfield b.1890 Rawtenstall came to Grimsby to be a fisherman circa 1910/11, records show that he was detained at the Heaton Mersey School in 1906 after being charged with wandering in the street in 1901. His father was Robert Stansfield b.1866 Burnley married Jane Alice Watts b.1868 Rawtenstall in 1889 Haslingden. I can't find any birth record or census records for Robert before marriage , or indeed a death record for either of the parents. on the marriage cert Roberts father is stated as George Stansfield deceased. Any help or guidance would be very appreciated - thank you , Families address in 1906 was Nelson Square Accrington

Your post is a bit unclear with regards to what information you have.

I assume you have James on the 1891 census living with the Watts family in Newchurch Rossendale?

James' birth shows up on Lancashire BMD - ROSS/48/58

Lancashire BMD shows a Robert Stansfield's death aged 36 in 1901 in Burnley East - BUE/11/42 which would tie in with your dates.

Did you sort out the family? I am assuming Robert was in fact illegitimate. I have Stansfields in Colne.
