The Chat Room...
 

As some of you may know the chat room here at accyweb is not hosted on our servers and is provided by an external company. The cost of this is $100 a year, and it is due for renewal in 2 weeks. I'm not sure if it is actually worth it, does anybody really use it? Anyway, I'll be looking into other alternatives during the next couple of weeks so when you enter the chatroom next, it may be completely different.

Why is it externally hosted? Bandwidth limits?

It was originally externally hosted because the hosting plan I had did not allow chatrooms due to them taking up excessive server resources. Now I have my own servers, but I would still rather have the chatroom hosted externally, as the software is better and I want the server resources for the websites... I'll probably end up hosting my own anyway, as it rarely gets used anyway.

Nah, i use this and it's amazing: http://www.tufat.com/script2.htm (Flash Chat) and it can be used with the forum software. Sure you hear about it Roy, think it only cost £3.00 for ever!

It's been good fun actually because the instructions are all in german.. Yes it works, yes it looks good. Nobody has ever integrated it with this system though so I have a fair amount of work to do... If i go with this one :)
