Naughty PC!

I am having real problems with the forum lately when I try to change pages it is very slow and unresponsive and sometimes gives me an DNS error page that's when it doesn't crash completely.

Does anybody have any advice? Is it my ISP or PC? It is really starting to annoy me now

I've been having problems for about a week that are gradually getting worse I didn't think this thread had posted because it came up with the DNS error again when I clicked submit :(

It takes time to respond when I submit a post on occasion.

On the whole its ok, but yesterday I think it was quite slow, and I am on 1Mb broadband now

I have noticed problems this week with trying to send private messages. I get the same error page coming up as tinks and have to try several times to send one message. Sometimes I end up even sending multiple messages lol so my apologies to anyone who receives numerous of the same message from me :o

The forum seemed to be unavailable for a short while today. Otherwise it seems fine to me.

The forum has been running slowly and sometimes totally unresponsive on my laptop for over a week now. When I go onto other websites and move around them, the pages load up as fast as I'm used to.

The server has been doing a mega backup for the last few days... Call me paranoid but its been running on this same hard drive 24hours a day for a year now...
This is causing high server load and it cannot cope with all the requests, thus resulting in strange/slow behaviour. It usually does this at night when nobody is around but because this is a manual backup then you are all feeling the consequences :)

I am also having problems. I have posted twice in the last 2 days where it has flashed up an error message but still posted my reply although it has not credited my ackers or announced my post as the last one in that topic area.:( I thought it was just me...

Squid is a proxy server. It is what I run locally as a cacheing server to improve speed of sites when I on dialup at work. I would guess that your ISP also uses it.
