Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

I hadn't even notice the quick links it took me ages to spot it even after reading this thread .......... sometimes people aren't constantly viewing Who's Online. If I use the Who's Online feature to send a PM to someone it opens another window to send the PM but still looks like your viewing Who's online until you remember to close that window down ......... I usually end up with about 6 windows open :o

I'm like Tinks, I end up with windows open all over the place sometimes! When Busman sees it I usually get a sigh and a weary shake of the head from him. :blush8:

Have you tried Firefox? You can use tabbed browsing. It's like having differnet windows of firefox open within firefox. I often have several tabs open of AccyWeb in one Firefox window. I can click on firefox in the quick launch if I want to search with google or whatever. Then by clicking back on my Accyweb Firefox window all my tabs are still open. When you right click on a link you can "open in new tab" instead on left clicking which opens a new window. I think I just made it sound confusing and hard work but it is simple and easy when you use it.

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

Er, Neil - I use Firefox (hence the "Foxy Lady" mini banner:D) - but it doesn't stop me having Firefox tabs in my toolbar and other non-internet windows open for stuff too! I have soo many tabs down there right now that my Firefox and Microsoft ones are all in a pile.

I even have a customised thingy down the side so I can have more stuff open at once.

I know, I'm a sad case. You should see the state of my desktop too. It's all full of "work in progress" :o

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

You should only need one copy of Firefox open with lots of tabs within it. Then when you minimise Firefox all the tabs go at once. Very neat and tidy.

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

I use the whose on line all the time, I find it better than the new threads link. I don't see the problem, you don't have to use it.

Sometimes it's more interesting than the threads, seeing how long it takes people to reply is funny.:)

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

I have just noticed that the New posts link gives a different result to the New Posts button. I know some of you don't like seeing the ZDNet and BBC threads. Well, if you use the New posts button you don't get them.(Says Ian who was always wondering what you were talking about as I always used the button :) )

Sometimes you get them with the button too Ian because I always use the button and I've had them once or twice.

entwisi 09-09-2005 14:54

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

I've never seen them and I always use teh button. In fact, I was think of getting Roy to set an auto refresh on there as its usually open all day at work :)

Another mystery solved, I wondered how anyone had been getting bbc/zdnet in new posts when they are excluded from the main new posts button.... I never ever use the quick links menu so had totally not realised that a new posts exists in there as well!!!

WillowTheWhisp 09-09-2005 16:48

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

I've only used the Quick Links since Staggers posted about it but I know I didn't dream seeing those BBC and Znet posts in the "New Posts" - maybe it was when it was quiet and everybody else had gone to bed and there was only them and me. Either that or I'm going strange and seeing thngs that aren't there. :unsure8:

Roy 09-09-2005 16:59

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

BBC and ZDnet have never been on the main new posts button.. It took several months before anyone even noticed they where here at accyweb! They are only here for my own personal use as my homepage in the browser is set to http://www.accringtonweb.com/index.php?page=technews

Gayle 09-09-2005 17:15

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

Perhaps it's because I don't always log on to read all the posts. If you're not logged on properly the using the What's New button on the top row shows all the BBC and ZDnet posts.

Re: Get Rid Of Quick Links!

Indeed in the todays post that guests get the tech news does show up, this is for the search engine spiders, as they see everything as guests...
