Photo Quiz
 

Hi from Owd Bert,
Have hundreds of piccys scanned from my collection of transparencies, many of buildings no longer with us. Just wondered about posting one each week or fortnight or monthly for members to identify the location. If you consider it worthwhile let me know the file size you would find acceptable and I will make a start. When I Email piccys at the moment I resize to 500 pixels wide and of course maintaining the Aspect Ratio. File size generally in the region of 70Kb.
Just an idea I had.

That sounds like a great idea Owd Bert! The 70k filesize is just right, do you have your own web server to host the pictures on as you cannot upload to this forum at the moment? If you don't you could email the pic each week/fortnight to me and I will send you the link back for you to post the competition. It's up to you on the frequency of the comp. Not quite clear what you mean Dave & Cazzer.
Although I`ve been dabbling since Commodore 64-Amiga days all this talk of URLs & hosting is new to me. Obviously I realise it`s to do with a Web Site but what exactly are you suggesting ?

Basically Owd_Bert, its a places that you can put your pictures on, and let anyone look at them.
You just upload them to the site, and pick what style you want the page, and thats it.
You can put them under an Accrington heading and anyone who wants to look at photos of Accrington, will be able to view them.
The site mentioned is very good, and it has a lot of galleries, collections and stuff.
Very easy to use aswell.

Just having a joke with Dave there Owd_Bert!
Seriously though, fotopic are good. You get 250 meg of graphic space to each album you set up, and you can upload via your browser, which I do myself, by email or by FTP.

You can also choose to have your album private or public.

Your only supposed to have one album per person tha knows.

I currently have Over Five thousand Six hundred pics on fotopic but I pay for the premuim service.. Or rather my sponsor does:)

Got three with different email addresses :o

Didn't realise you couldn't have more than one! :D

Used same name on each, but they still got registered.

Maybe they'll sus me out, I'd better go back and change my name on two!! ;D ;D

Hmmm just looked and your right its not obvious is it.. But I did see it somewhere.. Plus I know the owner Joel and thats the idea...

Anyway theres no need for multiple.. If 250meg isnt enough he will give you more space.. For FREE

The general idea is one account per person and get some free space added.. Of course if you need too much then blah blah :)

Believe me your not the first, only or last to have multiple accounts.,...I am guessing hundreds have because they dont realise you can simply ask for more space.. and that is in the docs :)

Getting very touch lately Cazzer,Scared i may take over your ' Accy God ' Position.If i answer to a topic that is a private descision from me.However i do not always have the time as i have a life away from the computer too  ::)

What's supposed to be illegal?

Having more than one email?
Using the same name more than once to apply?

don't think there was any intention to con anybody

Didn't know the government had passed a law saying you couldn't apply more than once on foropic.

It seems it's in the documents somewhere, but I would have thought if it was that if it was such a serious thing fotopic would have said something by now.

Have a look at the Answer Photo at the end of Photo #6 and note the 2 small buildings just to the right of the chimney which are behind Plantation St & Park St.

My wife used to call at one of them after lessons at St Pauls School ( Benjamin Hargreaves ) during the 1930s -- anyone any idea why she, and her friends called there ?
