Long URLs in posts

I'm having problems putting long urls in posts. I'm not sure if it's the site that i'm linking to, or google search in my browser.

[url=http://www.tamworthherald.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=159453&command=displayConte nt&sourceNode=159436&contentPK=14490578&moduleName =InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch]url[/url]

http://www.tamworthherald.co.uk/disp...=sidebarsearch

url
no matter which way I put it on here, naked address, or in code it doesn't work, has anybody got any idea why?

Re: Long URLs in posts

one thing I can't get round is putting a "look here" tab on http tabs I post

Re: Long URLs in posts

No it cuts of half way through, and when you put it in code [url=http://theaddress]Lookhere[/url] it changes some of the numbers to a space '&20'

PHP Code:

[noparse][url=http://www.tamworthherald.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=159453&command=displayContent&sourceNode=159436&contentPK=144 90578&moduleName=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch]url[/url][/noparse]

Remove the "noparse" tags in your post and it should work.

I know it's got noparse, i did that to show you how i was putting it.
It doesn't work, yes it takes you to the tamworth herald site but it should be to a serious alley attacks story.

right

go here
http://www.tamworthherald.co.uk

go to the search this site box at the bottom of the left menu and paste this

A Police hunt has been launched following a spate of attacks in Atherstone which are believed to be linked

that should take you to the alley story. then get a link on this site to take you back to that story, because I can't on here or proboards. It seems to add %20 in to the url twice.

infact theres 3 and if you look in your php code box len you've got them in there. why are they getting in there?

Re: Long URLs in posts

when you've copied the link from the site,are you clicking and using the "insert Link" icon above the message box? I did and it seems ok.

Len 03-06-2006 01:49

Re: Long URLs in posts

perhaps you should'nt post the copied link directly into your post, use the "insert link" icon.

Somethings strange because they've started working now, and they didn't before

Re: Long URLs in posts

perhaps Accy web should sort it! it should not be this hard to get a post on without having to log in and out( in out shake it all about web) or to copy paste url's into posts.. sorry boys but sometimes it can give members a headache

Re: Long URLs in posts

thanks len, i appricate your help, at least I know if i get a v bulletin board i can do it. It definately won't work on a proboards site. perhaps i copied it from the proboards site with the error that it puts in.
Could do with a basic tutorial on the codes here though i agree, I've noticed a few don't understand that its the code that gives them bold and quote etc, and that they can't delete the square brackets.
