After hack problems

Please post problems in this thread that you come accross... I have upgraded software to latest version so things may be different and not function correctly. I'll do my best in between work to get things sorted...

I’ve just tried uploading an animated gif avatar 100 * 97 * 35.8KB and I’m being told "Unable to save image"

It does just that its called rep power instead & if you go to your profile it shows the karmer comments there:D

No doubt I will be slapped down if I have mis-interprted this situation...

The "Rep Power" indicates how much Karma you hand out to other members, which itself is a function of duration of membership and number of posts on the forum. As it stands, the total Karma accrued is not displayed at the top of a post, as it previously was, in the members' details.

I think I know what I meant. ;)

Avatars/smiles uploads will not be working yet
as long as posts are working thats the main thing
Roy just phoned and he knows about the Avarars ect these are extras that he has to sort out yet.
You wont be able to upload anything yet as this is not ready yet
its just a Basic setup untill he has time to do the rest PLEASE wait ta:)

Re: Post hack problems...

It's only a minor problem, but, i've just noticed that a few posts are missing. Myself & Slinky posted quite a few times in the "Taxi Driver Test" thread on friday afternoon, but they are now AWOL.

It's no big deal really, just thought i'd let you know.

Mick 19-11-2006 14:03

Re: Post hack problems...

it depends on the site backup when it was done
if it was backed up before your posts it would not save them
but i dont think we lost much

I've also just found out that all my PM's from Friday afternoon have gone as well. Looks like the back-up could be the reason. Thanks for the explanation Mick.

:)

I notice that a few threads have disappeared also, which can’t be helped. Any thread ,post private message made after the last backup will no longer be with us.

That makes perfect sense to me and describes the situation as I see it too.

If you want to check your own karma level just click on the scales on one of your posts.(looks like the horoscope sign for Libra) That's where you add to other people's karma too.
:)

Roy 19-11-2006 15:30

Re: Post hack problems...

Indeed, in the basic forum software, what we know as karma is actually called reputation, I just renamed it and tried to make it a bit more fun... reputation?! yawn.. karma? hehehe.... Anyway, eventually it will be back as we know it :)

Oh yeh, that's cool Willow .. only 'cause I like to try and work out who has sent me those un-signed ones ... still suppose you can anyway with the rep. points .. doh to me.

Re: Post hack problems...

I am quite new at this and do not understand quite everything but would be grateful for some advice.
I posted a thread in lost family and friends on Friday the 17th came back on today to see if i had any replys but couldnt even find the thread, according to the logged in box it says last time i logged on was on the 13th.
Please advice, do i need to rewrite my thread and post again or will the first one i wrote be found. Sorry if it seems a silly question but like i said i am quite new at this.
Thanks for you help.

I’m afraid that you will have to re-write the thread again. Because of the hack we had on Friday Roy has had to use an accyweb backup which in reality wasn’t really that old but unfortunately we have lost several days worth of newly created threads and posts.

:)

Re: Post hack problems...

One of the members contacted me yesterday, after I'd told her AccyWeb was back, to say that she was still unable to find us and still getting the mesage she got when it was hacked. :(

Re: Post hack problems...

Willow tell them to clear the cache out and temp files it could be holding the hacked site page in cache.

entwisi 20-11-2006 06:41

Re: Post hack problems...

You can normally force a refresh to ignore cache by holding CTRL F5 (IE) or SHIFT F5 (mozilla based browsers, firefox, netscape, Galeon/Epiphany etc)

The e-mail addresses via the lancashireweb server do not appear to be working. Even logging on, directly to the server, there is no mail appearing in the inbox.

I think that was an add-on that Roy hasn't put back.
