Partition
Can we please have a separate section for the ACCYWEB socialites where they can carry on the banter between themselves.
Serious issues are being ignored..........as Less says 'I have worked hard to get Accyweb where it is today..........don't let him down. |
Re: Partition
Oh dear .. feel a Mary Whitehouse clone in our midst .. can't wait to see the posts in the morning on this one .. including Less.
I'm being a coward and >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>... running like hell ..... :D:D |

Re: Partition
Isn't the idea of the forum to be a social forum ?
As I recall most of Less's comments lately have been about newbies who complain about the forum as soon as they join. |

Well said. This forum has always been a place for fun threads, as well as debating more serious issues. By the way Less is the biggest socialite going. He's always fondly harping back to when Accy Web was even more fun that it is now, so get used to it. I suggest that if people don't like it, they don't have to come here. Since this has turned into yet another moany old thread, I'll stick my two penn'orth in as well. I'm board rigid with the recent cut and paste threads. You know the ones, paste a story, usually from the LET, and ask and 'what do you think?', with no input at all from the person who started the thread. Shoddy, shoddy, shoddy, and I for one try never to post in them. I'm not naming the main culprit. He knows who he is, but I think this thread may infact be complaining about the recent threads started by himself that haven't received much attention, and even fewer posts in them. Gosh, that feels so much better. Garinda. (Head Debutante and aspiring socialite.) |
Re: Partition
So we need a party area a serious area and an outrageous area :D
|
Re: Partition
I suppose 'socialite' is another way of suggesting that there is some sort of Accy Web mafia. There isn't, and that's nonsense....as the Godfather of the mafia has stated many times before, when it's been raised.:D
I found AW just over two years ago, on a wild and wintry night. I didn't know anyone, but received a warm welcome, which is still the case. I think my chief benefit was not coming on here and trying to change the forum into something else. It is what it is, and I, amongst others, love it.:) |

Re: Partition
Royboy, if you think a post is going seriously off thread then you can report it to the mods and they will(in their wisdom) intervene...however, it is good to remember that normal conversation has a 'meandering' nature...often straying from the original topic....but seems to eventually get back in line......and as others have observed...you don't have to come here - and if you do truly, think the place is going down hill, then there ARE other forums you can register on.
Remember too......you can only change something by being part of it. |

Re: Partition
I saw the thread and thought it was going to be a serious debate about the India/Pakistan partition which is recognising (I use recognising rather than celebrating as some people don't feel it's celebratory) 60 years this year. Shame, that would have made quite an interesting 'serious' debate.
Perhaps, instead we should partition the poorer parts of Accy web off and see how they manage over the next 60 years. |
Re: Partition

Oh and Roy, I seem to remember you posting in the thread I started about political allegiance, so do at least try to be constant in what you say about posting in threads started by myself.;) |
Re: Partition

On the first part I would doubt anyone would want to discuss the ineptitude of the then government and it's representatives and the carnage that was caused by their decisions? |
Re: Partition
So, let me get this right, on the one hand you're asking us to talk about serious issues and debates.

And then dismissing them as irrelevant when we bring up interesting points. Quote:
I'm not exactly sure what the point of this thread is. |
Re: Partition

The partition I was referring to was to bring to light how birds of a feather stick together....and the attacks go on. Partition I agree is normally used for the India/Pakistan separation but not in this case. You will see examples of it in this thread. |
Re: Partition
Talking of the Indian sub-continent, some people just love seeing themselves as social pariahs, and themselves the victim of some unseen caste system.;)

Eh so what has it do with a partion .....u want a boxing ring included:confused: sorry dont understand ya. Been a member here for a long time & the forum has always been a mix of differences & humour, seems to me the object of this thread is to cause more indifference to the forum that needs not extra attention but yet to cause more:rolleyes: |

There's a button at the top right hand side of all posts. It's a red triangle with an exclamation mark in it and it's available for anyone to use. You don't even have to have been here for years to have priveleges to use it. |

Was it an exact quote? I don't think so! :D I remember saying something along the lines of "we have worked hard, notice that is more of a 'collective, we are all in this together', than' I, me, myself, individual sort of statement which wouldn't imply teamwork from the administrator, moderators and we the grass-root members. :) |
Re: Partition

We have always had fun & banter on here, which could seem a cliquey but not the case at all, join in with it & you'll soon get the humour & way convo's goes, just unfortunately some take it upon themselves to rebel against this & wonder why many people will have THEIR own say on the matter, as they care about the members & the forum. |

Re: Partition
If I don't like a film I was watching, I walk out of the cinema.
If I was reading a book that disappointed, I'd put it back on the shelf. If I was on an internet forum that I didn't like, I'd not bother going on it again. What I wouldn't do is spend all my time friggin' moaning about it. |
Re: Partition
As a new bee and only joining yesterday im quite perplexed to find that this is a problem. We all have people that we dont particulary like or get on with in life. We learn to live with them and to some extend get along. Why is that not the case here? Everyone has a different opinion if they didnt it would be boring!!

The only partition that is on here is that of personalities. Everyones personality has a part that can get one over on others so it has been from the start. Slips away to find a book on meditation and anger management. :D |

If someone has something they wish to discuss, and back up what they're saying by adding a link, which gives more information to the story, that's all well and good. I don't like threads that don't bother giving you their opinion. For example, linking a story in a newspaper saying... 'Dog bites man,' and then just saying 'what do you think?' What I think is, that it's not worth me bothering to post in those type of threads, that's all.:) |

Re: Partition
Well I agree with Garinda on this one. The thing I love most about this forum is the debating and different arguments that go on but I tend not to post on a thread that's just a link with 'what do you think' on it.
I'm a bit nosey so I like to know why the person has posted the thread, why it's relevant to them and what their views are. |
Re: Partition
So it is a case of "what do you think" should be say;
"I think/believe/consider that ..................." |
