Karma Rule Change?

“You have given too much Karma in the last 24 hours, try again later.” is a phrase that I keep on seeing these days.

As I understand it the maximum number of Karma awards that can be made in 24 hours is TWO. Yet this last week or so I seem to be limited to 1 in 24 hours.

The last time that I made an award was 6 days ago.

Today I made an award and when trying to reward someone else I got the “You have given too much Karma in the last 24 hours, try again later.” message.

I suspect that he has given me bad karma recently :D

In the past Roy has changed the settings so you can award unlimited karma for a certain amount of time.

Try and give me some again Jambutty, it may let you this time.;)

I am not questioning the right of the forum owner to do what he pleases with this forum but if there is to be a rule change, surely members should be notified.

But did Roy tell us?

You’ve got enough Karma but you could give me some so that I could give the less fortunate people a bit more than I can do now.

No he doesn't tell us, it's only when you realise you can give, give, give, you realise there's a karma free for all.

Sadly I can't award you any karma, as I too have to spread it about, and obviously haven't given out much since your garden thread, which was ages ago, and which must mean I'm tight.:D

It’s rather sad that neither Roy nor Mick have ventured into this thread to clarify that there appears to have been a rule change in the Karma awarding thing.

I mean what sort of a forum is this to make a rule change (apparently) and not tell the members?

Karma is only supposed to be a bit of fun.;)

Perhaps the people you mentioned didn't know they had to attend an inquisition on the matter.

As I've said, I'm sure someone, somewhere, has posted that occasionally there was a karma free for all, or used to be.

You could try doing a search for 'karma', if you can stomach reading through all the sad, teary threads on the subject.

There is not a problem at all Mick.

I think JB was just asking if there had been a change that was all. It looks like there has been so the question has been answered. I thought his post was a valid question. I did not see the need for his dig at yourself and Roy later on though.

Thanks for responding.

All I know is that now I am only allowed to award one lot of Karma in 24 hours whereas in the not too distant past it was two lots. I am not the only one either.

That’s why I raised this thread to try and find out if gremlins were at work or the Karma rule had been changed.

That thought had crossed my mind but that would penalising the newcomers as well as those with high scores.

It is for all Karma.

You have stated many times, "karma, I ain't Bovvered", why bring it up at all?

If all of us can only give or take once in a day it's still fair, let's just worry about the people that stir things up for no apparent reason they are the enemies of the state called accyweb.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it.

Ignorance of the forum rules is no excuse for breaching them.

So yes it does matter. Whether it’s about Karma or any other point.

If there has been a change to the rules governing the awarding of Karma (and it appears to be the case) then the members should have been informed.

Can you make two awards in 24 hours?

What a load of tosh! Typical soggy butty, the proof is already with you, "I posted once today, I can no longer post, so, that must be the rule at the moment".

When the rule changes we'll let you know because as already stated in many of your karma threads it is useless and something you don't bother with.

I have many times in the past said I don't like karma and also that once a year the playing field should be levelled so that new members can have a chance of catching up with others, but it ain't going to happen so stop carping and try to post some worthwile threads.

Is that the best that you can do – make infantile personal remarks?

It wouldn’t be so bad if you got the theme right. It is about awarding Karma not making posts.

Neither is it about my personal views on Karma.

But you are absolutely correct. It is a load of tosh. Your post that is.

What a shame that you use your talents mainly to slag off the site, you often start some reasonable threads, then ruin them just because of a different point of view.

Similar is now happening, you know yourself karma means nowt' and yet rather than attempting to enjoy yourself you would rather slag off other members, the owner and his very helpful moderation team. I know you have better within you than this load of old rubbish why not concentrate on that rather than just get upset about things that really don't matter?

you are better than that, leave this form of attack to those that are unfortunate enough not to even have your level of intelligence, (I really do think of you as intelligent, just misplaced).

Feel free to assume my thoughts on you having intelligence to be a load of rubbish too, but I mean it.

Correct and unknown to us, until some others and me found out, it appeared to have been changed and I was asking if it really had been changed or was there a gremlin running riot.

Still no definitive answer from admin and just as importantly no one has answered my question if they can make two awards in 24 hours.

Perhaps if you took time out to do your usual passtime, checking the rules, you would come across the following statement:-

We reserve the right to add/change these rules at anytime without notice
But perhaps you have deliberately missed this because it doesn't fall in with your scheme of things?

I dont recall seeing a rule saying how many karma awards can be given, so I would think there is no rule breaking or notification required, when I noticed this, I just thought 'looks like the karma has changed, can only award once a day' then I bounced around the place kicking and screaming, ranting about my lost award ability, then rang mick and screamed abuse at him about the loss, then I kicked the cat, and then my 5 year old said 'its only karma dad' and gave me her old dummy and I was fine!

No I can't do two in a day - I just tried to take it off you and it would not let me as I gave someone good yesterday.

I see only one small problem with only being able to do karma once a day. I will now have to wait until after 3am until I can take that karma of Jam Butty for being a plonker again. If I do it at 4am the next day I will have to wait until 4am.

It almost means you can only do karma every other day now it is set to once in 24 hours.
I am easy either way just making an observation.

no i did not jump in without reading the thread, though your conceit will never allow that thought:p i just pointed out that "Mick"- ya know the moderator, said he WAS NOT aware of a rule change. so i was confused as to how you seem to think there was - n,i still am. it also seems that since mick answered the question only you are still not happy. i noticed a good while ago i could only award 1 lot of karma a day, but didn't bother me, why on earth should it?

Does'nt bother me either....We have been told many times that i'ts only fun.....some fun?

Wanted to give you karma Neil, (not for this post in another thread), but to bring things back on thread I thought I'd tell you here, it seems that I've already given my quota of 6 lots out today so you'll have to wait until tomorrow, sorry.

I've just awarded my seventh!

Is it a karma free for all for everyone, or just the chosen few?

If I sent bad karma I will correct it at the earliest opportunity

Lol, yeah bring back our currency.

I was an Acker millionaire.

Just imagine how many tears there'd be if certain people had all their readies nicked.

It would make all these cry baby karma threads literally seem like child's play.

Bring back the Ackers!!!

:D

I have already said somewhere in this thread "that as far as i know there has been no change"
so why should members be informed of something that has not happened ??
there might be a glitch in the system but that's a different matter and will be looked into:eek:
