Varying width

This is just an idle question but I can't help wondering why posts are of varying widths.

Re: Varying width

Maybe it's because you are looking at post that include a poll option Gobsmacked.

Re: Varying width

It's probably a problem with your monitor, this site has been designed for resolutions of 30960x2048 and above. ;)

Re: Varying width

Like Mez I get it in certain threads and posts.....???????

WHY????

Re: Varying width

There are many things that actually play a part in this:

Size of location field.
Size of username.
Size of attachments/img.
Bad web design.
Size of avatar.
Size of your monitor/browser window.
Whether you have a pet.
Bad web design.
Amount of karma.
Amount of posts.
Bad web design.

Re: Varying width

But it can't have anything to do with Bad web design on here Roy can it

Re: Varying width

I get it in most threads. Some posts match in size with others and some are wider or narrower. I assumed it was the user names and avatar sizes that caused it.

WillowTheWhisp 06-07-2004 20:15

Re: Varying width

Now that I've said that I look at my name and avatar and the previous name and avatar and realise that what I said can't have anything to do with it as both of mine are larger but the posts are the same width.

Re: Varying width

I only get that prob when there's a poll running. I have to say though that it does put me off reading the thread.

The difference is negligable in normal threads. It's just evident at the edges.

Re: Varying width

I noticed that Sparkologist posts are quite wide. I some times have to use the Horizontal slide bar at the bottom of the screen to view his posts.

Re: Varying width

hey willow ive just noticed yous is a bit , only a teensy bit wider than mine . he he he

Re: Varying width

I know at one time I copied a load of text from Microsoft word (or somewhere else not sure now) and pasted it directly into the reply post box and noticed the post I had just made was very wide. So what I do now is copy the text from ms word (or where ever) and past it into my notepad then I “select all” from notepad and copy and past the text into the reply post box and it seems ok, don’t know why but it does.

Re: Varying width

I have no problem except when there is a poll on the threads i'm looking at, it seems to like multiply the result for some reason...... 1 vote becomes 100, 2 votes becomes 200 etc and stretches so that it pops out of my monitor and into the wall, Fiona is getting annoyed at the holes!
