Ignore list

My 'not nice to know' list has grown.
I appreciate that I only need to read what these people say when I want to.
Is there a way that the ignore list can be 'reciprocal'?
By that I mean that whatever I write they won't be able to see.
It seems a logical way of reducing insulting comments on this site.

The answer to your question is "NO"
The only way is if they put YOU on there ignore list
you could pm everyone on your ignore list and ask them to ignore you:)

If she was to P.M. me I would promptly ignore her request.

There is a way to stop me reading your posts Mag's, use Burnleyweb I don't go there.:D

Could someone quote me please so that our resident Soothesayer, (if she was any good she'd know what I've just said already), can read this, (preferably one of the few NOT on her ignore list).
:alright:

Even if it was possible, which with a mod I am sure it would be, it is pointless. The person you are ignoring could log out and then read your posts. That cant be stopped on an open forum like this.

If you dont want someone to see something all you can do is not post it.

I've never actually bothered putting anyone on ignore.

I did pretend too, just to aggravate the cantankerous sod, and then just ignored everything he posted....using only the power of my mind.

Being a nosey so-and-so, I'd be frightened of missing something if I resorted to using the ignore facility on here.

:D

Re: Ignore list

I was playing with ignore before. I ignored Less, for no reason, I could still see he had posted in threads but it did not show what he had posted. Is that the same for everyone or can I see that being a mod?

I will get Rhonda to try it out later and show me so I can see if there is a difference.

Please Neil, feel free to ask mags for a reason, I would rather be ignored for a reason, (real or imaginary), she is a dab hand at ignoring myself and many, many others, or at least she pretends she ignores us but we know she still can't resist peeking.

If you can offer her no satisfaction could I suggest she ties herself to the radiator in accywebs very own 'calm room', as a protest?

I have some high quality copper wire I would willingly donate to her cause.

That's the trouble.

I suspect many are like me, and only log on if you happen to want to post.

If you're just having a shufty, off-line, seeing what new posts there are, you'd see what those you have on ignored had posted.

Making it a bit pointless.

Happily I have my own in-built facility, to ignore some people.

:D

Re: Ignore list

What is the point of having an ignore list? It's a bit like trying to read a good novel while missing out every other chapter. I suppose it's the thing a mental retard would do - in which case, possibly the mods or others could redirect those with ignore lists to those sites for the intellectually challenged.

I wasn't aware that MargaretR made any insulting comments about people. However it's very decent of her to want to spare their feelings by stopping them reading one if she did make one.
Wouldn't it be an infringement of our human rights? After all MargaretR is excercising her choice but wishes to curtail other peoples.
Being insulting(and insulted) on Accyweb seems to be an accepted part of the fun. As long as it's done 'In the best possible taste' why should anyone take offence?

Talking of being ignored, just a slight wander, Some years ago I attended a sportsman's dinner at Bacup golf club, the firm I worked for sponsored a table the guest speaker was Tommy Docherty, after his speech he did a questions and answer session, somebody asked "What do you think about Bob Lord the Burnley Chairman Tommy" after a short pause he replied "Next Question":D

I tried to send another member a personal message the other day, but there wasn't that facility.

Can you disable them, or am I on their ignore list?

Wasn't urgent.

Was just going to ask them to post something for me, when I couldn't, to see if that worked.

It obviously wasn't my ignore list, (Oh Garry why don't we talk anymore?), cos' I read this.
But I do seem to remember in personal settings you can refuse P.M.'s but that would be all of them not just yours.

Sometimes these choices should only be allowed once, some members are like the wind and they change just as quickly.

Less if some ones on your ignored list does that stop you pming them or vice versa

I have had the 'visitor message' facility turned off for quite a while now, because I found messages there which had been left weeks earlier, and which I hadn't been aware of.

Garinda is not one of the persons on my ignore list. Maybe the person he tried to PM has reached the message limit of PM storage and need to do some deletion of old messages

I didn't know you could switch this off Margaret, I have to say that I very rarely go into my profile and if I do its only for a specific purpose and have to say I don't look to see if anyone has left a message, I once noticed a message 2 months old, bet the person who set it though I was a right ignorant sod

Good.

I wouldn't know, I wouldn't be so petty as to join a chat forum and then ignore someone.

What is the point of ignoring someone just because you don't agree?

Surely the point of such a forum is to get differing points of view & discuss them?
:)

Political threads would be rubbish without the traditional, '13 years of labour misrule'.

I only ignore people who have been persistently offensive to myself and others.
I can't see the point in reading the comments of someone who does that.
I found that reading insults is not pleasant, so I see no reason to masochistically do it.

In order to avoid further speculation, my ignore list comprises -
Less and Tealeaf.

Two other members have been listed, maybe not permenantly (probation of sorts).
I still read their posts sometimes, whilst I watch for signs that they are able to be civil, but meanwhile I prefer not to be exposed to their negative attitudes most of the time.

Could you be so kind as to P.M. me whenever you change my status?

I think it would only be fair.

I find it just a tad awkward not knowing when it's safe to extract the whatsit only to find you read what I said and I wasn't given the chance to blow you a few kisses at the end of the post.

Come on, MargaretR, who are the two on probation?

I doubt I would ever put anyone on my ignore list, certainly not you! I'd be too curious about what I was missing and anyway being a 'little' rude seems to be the norm on here, it's not often anyone goes too far and when they do they usually get back as good as they give.

She doesn't but she does take offence when her alternative views are criticised.
Why?
If her views are alternative then surely she needs 'ernative' views to be against?
