Spell check?

Although I get a red underlined warning when I make a spelling mistake(often) I have to go on Word processor or somewhere to find the correct spelling.
Can it be done on Accyweb itself? I can't find it and I can't find a thread which tells me! Hope someone can point me in the right direction and if it's obvious please don't shout at me.
Thanks.

I tend to right click the mouse while resting the cursor on the offending word & you get a drop down list of options Gordon (well it does for me) then you take your pick of a suitable word.

I copied this several months ago but can't remember from where. It might have been from this site! Anyway, it highlights the pitfalls of relying on spell checkers.

SPELL CHECKERS

Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin not sea.

Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight for it two say
Weather Eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.

As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.

Eye have run this poem threw it
Eye am shore your pleased two no.
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.

I use Google spell check, I down load the google toolbar which includes the spellcheck, all you do when you've finished your post is click on check then Auto Fix, it then fixes any mistakes highlighting in green if its not sure it turns red you can then click on the red word and it gives you alternatives, its the best I've come across, just a note it doesn't work if your using firefox mossala

Re: Spell check?

I don't use a spell checker.
Sometimes I need to check whether I have spelt a word correctly.

I have google toolbar and so I copy and paste the word in the search box and this reveals a drop down list showing the correct spelling.

Re: Spell check?

Thanks everyone. Much easier.
Question though- when you right click on the wrongly spelt word are you accessing Accywebs own spell check or are you tapping into Google or Firefox?
I'm using Google Chrome and can't find jaysays autofix- perhaps it's not on. Anyway it obviously doesn't always work- in fact it looks like it almost never works!

cashman 05-02-2012 14:25

Gordon if you go to Google bar at the top of the screen, click the check button the wrong spelling should highlight then click the small arrow at the side of the check button it should correct it for you ,click check again and all should be ok then. Try that

Gordon Booth 05-02-2012 14:53

Re: Spell check?

Thanks, claytonx but Google Chrome doesn't have the Google toolbar(??) apparently.
There's a spanner symbol at the right hand side which opens up various things.
Like cashman I'm lost with all this technology but the 'right click' on the badly spelt word works very well(I've used it a few times already!).
