Forum statistics

I understand the phrase 'Number of posts' alongside each poster's name. but what does 'forum power' mean?

I don't know what the difference is between a posting thread an
d a blog.

Re: Forum statistics

Sorry - 'rep power' not 'forum power'

Re: Forum statistics

Neither do I know how to 'like' someone. I am hurt that people like Katex four times more than me.

If you look at someone's post you will see a red 'like' at the right hand side, click on that to show you like their post.

Re: Forum statistics

There you are, Bob. I 'liked' your post two. Because I must admit I don't know what Rep Power is either, never really thought about it.

And conversely if someone should approve of something you've written, they could "Like" your effort or reward it with "K", enhancing your rep (reputation) power.

Happier now Bob ? :)

Re: Forum statistics

Bob - a blog is a bit like a diary.
You can(if you wish) outline what is happening in your life...or you can have a good old moan about what is currently getting your goat...putting your back up.
Folk read these and make comment(if you have enabled this facility in the blog control panel).
I can't believe you have been here since 2007 and still have not got to grips with these sections of the forum...or are you jsut having us on? :)

No one has answered Bobs question( and mine) about what 'Rep Power' is.
Come on, admit it, you don't know either!
Anyway, five of us like you now, Bob, probably more than you deserve.

Ah, missed that bit(it's an age thing). So Green karma and 'like' increase it, does Red karma knock it down?
And can I exchange it for cash?
Actually, cashman, i do need some new specs. If I put my reading glasses on I nearly have to press my nose on the screen to read it

Yeh mate Red knocks it down.

No...rep cannot be exchanged for cash...or anything else.
Many many moons ago we had Ackers ...and pets.
You used the ackers to buy food and services for your pets......posts made, earned you ackers. I liked it and had a lovely dog called chewy.
During one of the upgrades, our pets were spirited off, ackers removed(just as I was almost rich) and they have never been seen again.

Re: Forum statistics

Thanks folks ( except Cashy and Margaret R whose cards have been marked)- I now understand 'Like' , but it might take me a while to grasp Rep Power, and even longer to become a blogger. Even so, I think this forum is far better than Facebook and some other forum systems.

And there was me thinking I might be the only person on the planet who does not subscribe to FB......who actively and positively hates FB.

I am a member of 3 groups on FB, and find them OK. I do not accept 'friendships' and think this reduces what I see to manageable proportions.

Now then Gordon, being liked doesn't automatically equate to friendship now does it ? I quite like Cashy, but I don't want people thinking we're mates. :D

Indeed as I had to explain to Magsr once when she was suffering the shock of a 'like' from me, it was the post I liked NOT the poster.
