Read Thread

I have noticed lots of threads still show new posts after I have read them. I can go in several times and it still lights it up unread. The only way to get rid is to mark all forums read.................can be quite annoying. Is this a chrome issue?

It could be but i don't use it so not sure
it could also be your cache might be holding them as new posts
try clearing your cache out after looking at the new posts

Re: Read Thread

It is most likely to be a thread that has a poll attached, if you have read the last comment and then someone votes, this then updates to being an unread post.

That was going to be my suggestion as well.
I don't see how it can be your browser as the unread posts is saved by the forum against your user and when you click new posts it uses this saved info to generate your unique new posts page. It works the same way for showing you the read/unread icons as well.

Once your logged in most pages displayed will be generated uniquely for your username

Then you have a problem, perhaps you have been where no-one should go and picked up a virus?

If it was the same for everyone, surely we would all be suffering?

These things happen even when we think we know what's going on.

No virus. Its the same on Linux

So- This is definitely problem with Chrome. It happens on every thread I have either commented on or that I have read. I click it to read the new comment and there hasn't been one. Looking on Internet Explorer and Firefox it doesn't happen.

Edit: Clearing of cache fixed :D

Slightly different thing but lately I get a pop-up coming on to left of the screen showing me related research topics -it started on the Accyweb quiz and then after on here too. It hampers my quiz playing and is a nuisance -any ideas how to get rid of it most welcome! It doesn't come up anywhere else...

Hi Mobertol, Does have the letter T in the top corner, seen something similar to what you describe. Any chance of a screenshot

Can`t remember the name of the one with the T in the corner, but just seen another one with a W, this is called Wajam.
If you don`t already have them download, install, update and run Super Anti-Spyware & Malware Bytes.
Both are free and very good.

Found the one with the T, it`s called Topic Torch, see attached screenshot. Can be disabled by clicking the T or uninstalled by going to Remove Programs in control panel ( it`s called Yontoo in there ).
You might be best starting a new thread if it`s neither of these.

Re: Read Thread

It has the T! Will try what you've said and report back! Thanks xxx

Re: Read Thread

From what i`ve read, Yontoo is installed with UTorrent, possibly other programs as well, if you uninstall it, the host program may stop working also.

Seems to have worked -clicked on the T and disabled. Just have to sort the one which comes up along the bottom of the screen now -probably more of the same!!!! Thanks for the advice - Karma to be sent -won't let me now as I gave some for your pics of your dogs recently :)

Glad it`s sorted and thanks for the Karma, only recently seen that I`ve been sent Karma, doesn`t tell you like when you receive a "like".:)
