Re: Hello from Romsey,Hampshire
Hi Accys, thanks for your replies.
I am decended from Hartley Davy b.1779 a master tailor who lived in Abbey St and also had a shop there and so did the next 3 generations. Also apparently well known in the Methodist circles. He had a road named after him,DAVY ST. which i believe was demolished around 1950's.Are there any old photos out there ? or info on the Davy family? Am also related to Kenyon's, Eccleston's, Bradley's, Herald's, Haworth's to name a few. |

Most of the early properties date from around 1800. Davy st ran off Infant St and it now the site of the telephone exchange. There may be photo's in the local studies dept of the library, you would need to enquire from them, they have 1000's of photo's. Retlaw. |

I have been intouch with the local studies and they have been most helpful and actually have documents dating back to 1843 Davylad. |

Re: Hello from Romsey,Hampshire
Hi Retlaw
My husband's forebears had a dubious relationship with yours. Four members of the family were transported to Tasmania for stealing from Davy's drapers (Abbey St) in 1844. |
