I'm another newbie

I'm a newbie who is an oldie. I was born on Hornby St in 1942 and have lived in several East Lancs towns and villages - now back in Ossy on retirement.
This board looks a pleasant way of remembering old times
Mount Pleasant (Ossy) school '46 - '52.
Accy High School '52 - '58
Mullards Simonstone '58 -'59
Civil Service '60 - '94
If anyone recognises me it would be nice to reminisce

Hello Margaret, and welcome.:)

My grandparents lived at number 6 Hornby Street, in the 40's/50's. My Dad was born in 1942, and my Aunt in 1944. Both went to Mount Pleasant, then my Dad went to QEGS, and my Aunt was at the High School.

You might well have known them, my grandparents had a bakers in Ossy, which is still there, if you need another clue.

Welcome Margaret .. Figure you may have been in the year above me at Accy High .. I was born in June '43, but if your birthday was before Christmas in 1942 down to August, could have been in the same year.

Don't seem to be able to work it out proper .. hmmph, some good the High School did me, using me fingers here .... :D

Yes ! and I am Rothwell now (by deed poll after too many husbands)
I knew about your dad - sorry to hear now about your aunt Doris.

At Accy High School I was in the same year as Kathleen Jones who later was a headmistress there. I cant remember her maiden name now

My Mum remembers you too, and sends you her best wishes.

My godfather Tony Perkins, and Val Littlefair (as was) you may remember, both of whom still live close by, and are good friends of ours.

I was at Accrington 'Dhss' (its name changed several times) from 1960 to 1965. Then was at Burnley office from 1966 to 1970. At Blackburn for 1 year mid1970/1971, returning to Accy office in 1971.
We just missed each other!
You probably heard my name mentioned amongst mutual colleagues. At that time my surname was Livesey, and yours?

It looks like it Margaret. It was my first job after leaving school and I stayed until my marriage in 1970. I was in the sickness benefit section and if I was naughty, I had to write out the Giros! Seriously, it wasn't that bad and after my children went off to school, I returned to the Civil Service until I took early retirement. My maiden name was June Martin.
