New Member saying Hello and Help!!!

 Hi everyone, my name is Sue and I live in West Sussex. I have joined the web site to see if anyone can help with some family tree research. My ancestors come from Church and Oswaldtwistle, my great-great grandfather was Henry Bentley landlord of the Warners Arms in 1901. I am struggling with his son Robert who I believe ran the Balcarres Arms in Wigan. My great-great grandfather on the other side was Grimshaw Duckworth who was living in Church at the same time. If anyone has any info that may help it would be great to hear from you, even old pics of the Warners Arms.

Hello Sue and welcome to accyweb, half my family lived in west sussex for a number of years, soon came back north though, and brought a few hangers on with them, lol, hope someone can help with the family tree.

Hi Sue, welcome to Accyweb.

Have looked in some books on old Accrington that contains photos of lots of pubs, none for the Warners though.. sure I have seen one somewhere. Perhaps one of historians might be able to find one for you.

Hi Sue, welcome to AccyWeb. I can send you a photo of the Warners Arms but that's about the limit to my usefulness I'm afraid.

Thanks for your welcome! A photo would be brilliant - I am trying to get this done for my Mum who will be 82 next year and she would love to know her history so photos would be great.

Re: New Member saying Hello and Help!!!

Presume you have done all the usual sites Sue .. like the free one on Ancestry for 1881 census which shows 2 Grimshaw Duckworths and one Henry Bentley, as a 15 year old then, living in Church.

Are you just after information from any of our locals ?

As mentioned on other threads, the library here is the best place to start as more information available F.O.C., however, would have to come and visit us .. :)
