Hello. I'm not from Accrington, but used to go there a lot in my long lost youth ! Ossy is my hometown. I stumbled across this site & have enjoyed reading the posts that have made me quite nostalgic ! I went to Rhyddings school, leaving in 57. I worked for a time for Thornbers Chemist in Clayton-le-moors.....I wonder if it still exists ? ( the chemists...not the town ! ) Anne Metcalfe worked with me...anyone know of her ??? She married a Harry Woods? & the last I knew lived in Water St Accrington.
I'll certainly be back !

Thornbers Chemist are long gone. I can't quite remember when they bit the dust.
I do know that Thronbers shop in Clayton was still going in the late 60's.......and the shop that they occupied is still there, but no longer Thornbers.

Maybe there will be someone on here who remember the lady you worked with.

Hello Margaret. I think our paths have crossed before on Friends Reunited ? Pat Kershaw. I'm new to this site having only just found it, but I think I've been away too long to know anyone in the area now ! still nice to read about people's memories .

You would be surprised who comes on here.

If our paths have crossed on Friends re-united, then I am very sorry to say that I cannot remember.....have to say though that I am getting to that time of life where the memory sometimes eludes me.

I went to Peel Park School and then onto Woodnook(failed the 11+).....and I didn't leave there until 1962.....
Worked in the town centre for a while.....then went into the mill.

hi.and welcome. I left rhyddings in 59. you must 67 ?? more detail's please... such as where in ossy.?? and so on. good luck with your search.. and all the best....
