martin briggs
Hi to all members
grew up in clayton-le-moors (mum still lives there) family originally from Darwen - moved to Barnes street where my dad had a bakery (next to Jack thornton's barbers) worked at the Dunkenhalgh as a young lad then at Brockhall Hospital - which is what has brought me to this site trying to track down Alan Gilmartin who I worked with as an apprentice chef (all those years ago) - happy to 'chat' with anyone about those former days! |
Re: martin briggs

Re: martin briggs
that's a nice welcome -
thanks to you all can't wait to get in touch with Al - we have a LOT of stuff to talk about which might also illuminate the history of the 60s in the area as we grew up, and in turn pass it on. you are welcome to take a look at my personal profile - someone might recognise an affinity have yourselves a great bank holiday even though the weather is up to the 'proverbial' Martin - Bernadette is right ( or Cicero was) -I've always been fully employed minding my own business and that itself has reaped untold rewards - although - "I have no particular talents. I am merely inquisitive" (Einstein) |
Re: martin briggs
I once asked Jack Thornton if he could cut my hair like Billy Fury's
now that's taken you back! |
Re: martin briggs

Re: martin briggs
'ow do, Martin, and welcome. Although I've never met him, Al and myself have become good mates via Accyweb. He's got a great store of memories of 60's music, fashions and the scene around Accy and district back in the day. Would imagine he'll be along presently.
A PM's a personal message which you can send to Al (or anyone else on Accyweb). I see your birthday's March 14th - join the club! :D |
Re: martin briggs
Welcome to Accyweb Martin.
Lived in Barnes Street myself from '64 >> '74. Don't remember the bakery, but knew Jack Thornton quite well. |
