My introduction

Hello, my name is, well my name is ExistenceIsSuffering but you can call me "Exi" if you like.

The first noble truth in Buddhism is that "Existence is suffering" and, well, I live in Accrington, so... Steep hills, poverty, budget cuts and the insufferable wind and rain we get here make it easy to accept this noble truth.

I used to live somewhere really nice. It has tourists going to it because it's so nice. It has rubbish collection EVERY WEEK, flat, maintained pavements, great shops...

I had to move to Accrington for financial reasons so I'm stuck here really. Accrington does have one advantage over where I used to live though: you don't seem to get very many beggars here at all, whereas where I used to live people would come up to you all the time for "some change for the bus", "a spare cig", "some money so I can use the phone" etc.

Oh well, that's me. A moaner. I wasn't born here, I've only been here 10 years so I'm like a moaning invader, coming over here, stealing your rain, moaning about your homeland.

You'll probably learn to ignore me or tune me out somehow.

Alright Smiler ! Namaste, I spent a fair bit of time working with the Gurkhas, Nepalese soldiers in the British Army, most of them where Buddhists & they were always smiling & happy, so what's the hardship ? :)

Some people just wallow in their victim mentality.
Negative thoughts attract negative situations.
As a person who professes to have read about buddism he ought to know that.

I suspect he is attempting to provoke sympathy - he doesn't get mine.

Hello, I visit the temple and Priory at Ulverston and the Peace Cafe. But am not a Buddhist. All change is new change, and sometimes we learn from forced changes. Glad to be a member.

Well wow, you really know how to make a new member feel welcome don't you?

I didn't say I'd read about buddhism, I just stated what its first noble law is.

Most of my post was just intended to be lightly humourous but you really went for my jugular, didn't you?

And Jaysay popping up there after everything you say, agreeing with you? Hmm, it really gives me the impression that there is a clique operating here and anything I say is going to get jumped on and hammered into the ground.

Yeah, I think I see the score here.

So much for "Welcome to Accyweb!" More like "You are not welcome to Accyweb, the regulars have taken a dislike to you based on the fact that you smell new and different."

MargaretR 14-02-2011 06:50

Re: My introduction

You said you were only in Accrington because you had fallen on hard times, and you don't like living here.
You described yourself as a moaner.
How much more negative can you get?

If you were just extracting urine, it would have been better not to have done it in your 1st post.

I came to Accrington for a family funerl and left a friend. What more can I say. Our reasons for our negative or hurtful stages sometimes lie hidden. To be truthful is better than to be an imposter. Many Accrington people have no choice but to stay and be unemployed, lonely or be individualised. I joined for harmony. The Peace Cafe does give me that as not full of moaners but inspired people. Welcome is a word that is inviting, 'Make' it so says Mr Spock.

Look there are plenty of new folk come on accyweb everyday, Some start off optimistic and become disenchanted after a few posts. You cut through the red tape you came on disenchanted and went down hill from there.

If you haven't read about it, how do you know that any of their laws are 'noble'?

No you don't know the score, you came on with your form of depressive humour and when it was met with accyweb members humour, something you get to know as you experience it, you spit your dummy out& think everyone is against you, wrong, you started it we just continued with it.
Now either grow a little, have a little patience, get used to us, give us a chance to get used to you, THEN you can spit your dummy out as much as you want.

Or

Go away to some remote corner stick your thumb in your mouth and mumble the mantra of the accyweb calm rooms first noble law:-

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me I think I'll go and eat worms.
:D

His-Matt the Gurkhas are a fine crowd & they accepted me without reserve despite being different & Exi the same goes for the folk on here don't pre judge, please, take a proper part in it (Accy Web) & see what happens.

That brings back memories .

No seriously , Cashman is right .

I got things wrong when I posted on Accy Web at first .

Just read through some of the threads and get the feel of the thing . Some will interest you and others won't .
Find the weird humour of some of the members .

Enjoy . ( I hate that use of the verb , but don't know why I used it ). :):):)

See we are all one big happy bunch (most of the time!!!)

I remember when you first joined JCB, I just sat back and read what you posted but didnt interfere and eventually you got the hang of it!!!:D

Its taken me time to get used to peoples sense of humour but instead of jumping in there with 2 feet I have taken my time because at the end of it you find that they aint bad just a bit naughty sometimes!!!;)

People have posted this before - it cant be all happy clappy on here all the time, people have thier opinions (quite rightly so) and natrually they will clash sometimes. It's like everyday life on here, which is why it works.

Personally I dont think this newbie has come on with a great introduction and that is what people have picked up on straight away.

Why dont you try and start again like JCB did if you want to stick with us?

Oi! don't you go trying to muscle in on my potential recruits. They sure as hell ain't going down Ewood. They strike me as being intellectual types, so they'll be much more at home discussing the finer points of existentialism with me and Cashy on the Clayton End. ;)

You must have a lot of patience not to have interfered , Heth . :)

But my initiation does enable me to see where some contributors are coming from .

I was new to the internet , and didn't realise I had actually made a brief comment on Accy Web before my tirade .

Dont worry we all have to start somewhere and you have now become one of the good one's!!! ;)

Very much so . I have a look most days .

I don't always contribute , but it's amazing what info I pick up .
Like when I lived up Fern Gore , I spent many hours playing in the clough near Pendleton Avenue . I never knew the stream was called Antley Syke until I read a thread about Fern Gore .
