Hiya, new to Accrington web. Can you help?

Hi everyone, Im an Accy lad who moved south in late 87. My family are from Accy, and still have 2 sisters living there. Its been a long time since Ive been back, but coming up for relatives wedding in August. I was brought up at the top of Peel Park Avenue during the 60's/70's with my family, the Billington's. I wondered if anyone remembers me/my family during that time? Id also like help finding history of the are (peel park and St Annes school) if anyone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction. My dad was Bill Billington, and my mum was Alice. We went to St Josephs church as a family (6 kids) and Ive very happy memories of my first 20 odd years of life in the town. I discovered Northern Soul in the mid 70's and used to boogie at the Mecca in Blackburn on Sunday nights, making sure I got the 11 o clock bus back home!!
Any help will be appreciated.
Regards,
Chris Billington

I certainly am Celia's brother. She still lives in the family home on Peel Park Avenue with her hubby Tony.

Visit the museum inn the Arndale centre and the library. In the former you may be lucky enough to meet Atarah from this forum. They have some books for sale. The library will sell you copies of their photos, which are filed under streets and subjects such as Schools.

A touch contradictory surely?

Welcome to the new museum Inn?

Doesn't quite have the trend setters dashing to be seen by their peers.

Or am I too old to appreciate such a modern establishment?

I wouldn't say so Less, think it's probably aimed at the more discerning punter, those with a bit of time on their hands. :D

See them in the Peel Park from time to time. My wife ( Sue Gittins) used to mate around with Celia.
