I suggest that you make an appointment to see somebody at the Citizen's Advice Bureau - they may be able to help.

Hi. try the CIBwebsite for informationwww.adviceguide.org.uk and look under help for young people. You cant hold a tenancy if you rent accommodation unless you have a personal agreement with the landlord. If you get this then you can claim housing benefit, which is limited, however under 18's dont pay council tax. I would have thought that the council would house you in a flat. The rent would be about £40-£50. Hope this is helpful. :)

It is unlikely the council would re-house him whilst under the age of 18 unless supported by social services.. eg... child leaving care.

Re: housing please help me

theres no point me asking for free housing in germany because i want to leave here to do an apprenticeship are you sure that the rent for a flat would be about £40-£50 that seems a bit cheap to me if it was that i could probably afford that but ontop of that theres all the bills if i was elligible for housing benefit what could that bring the rent down too if any body has any more info for me pls keep adding it to the topic if u can thankyou

Re: housing please help me

i think that i can get it because it says

If you are a student

If you are a student in full-time higher education (degree level or equivalent), you cannot usually claim Housing Benefit. However, you can claim it if you are studying part-time. If you are under 19 and on a course below degree level, you can also claim Housing Benefit (unless you have recently left care).

You can also claim Housing Benefit if you get Income Support or income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, you are a single parent or you are disabled, regardless of whether you are studying full-time, or what level of education you are in. You can also claim if you are a member of a couple, you are both full-time students and you have dependent children. If you are a full-time student but your partner is not, check if your partner could make the Housing Benefit claim instead of you.

The rules about which students can claim housing benefit are complicated. There are also rules about how student grants, loans and other financial support are treated when your income is being calculated.

Some full-time students who cannot get Housing Benefit and need financial help may be able to apply for money from discretionary funds at their place of study.

For more information in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, see Financial support for higher education students.

For more information about financial support for higher education in Scotland, see Guide to Student Support 2004/2005.

If you are a student and you want to check if you can get Housing Benefit, or you want to check how much you will get, you should consult an experienced adviser, for example, at a Citizens Advice Bureau. Re: housing please help me

God, its an absolute mine field isnt it! Will you be a student? Or is the apprenticeship, employment based?
I live in a 3 bedroom council house and the rent is £59. So yep, a flat would be about £40-50. You could private rent too.
