the question is where do all the socks go that the washing machine eats?Its annoying you pair them up and are always left with one oddun WHY.:confused:

would you believe that some of them manage to find their way out of the sump pipe and it the waterways!!!! Bet the fella at the treatment plant has a sock stall at the weekends :p ;)

Everytime I wash I end up with an odd sock. Its a standing joke in our house:)

Buy in bulk, all the same, put in drawer in singles and you will never know if theres one missing :)

Paul, this may come as a shock but they go to sock heaven, just as all the missing down the back of the sofa, items such as ball point pens, combs etc. they all having performed their duty to mankind* go to their own version of heaven. Kryton from red dwarf explains this phenomenom in very simple terms if ever you get the chance to watch the re-runs.

* Gayle please note it is still referred to as MANkind you as all other simpler organisms and devices will get your reward in a similar version of heaven!

dad you never take your socks to the wash they walk their and most of the time they'll probably just jump out of the window and save themselves so they know you aint going to be wearing them again

Easy answer dont put them in the washer in pairs that way when they come out in ones thats how they are meant to be and you cunningly have the other stashed away!!! (beat the wash monster who steals them)!

your socks end uo in my room all the time, i dont move them back to your room because at the end of the week i can pair them up and thats when i put them back onto the top of the washing machine in your little clean pile (bet you didnt know you had one) for you to take into your room.

errr just a second have you only noticed that one sock always goes missing? and you and mum have been togeather 22 years? :eek: dad shame on you! :D

Serious answer - go to Sock Shop, buy a sock/stocking bag, wash them in that and they always stay together.

Other answer - Less's idea is good, but wrong. Socks and ballpoint pens are alien beings. When their time on earth (researching HUMANkind) is done, they return to their own planet to compare notes. They even have visiting delegations (this year it's the socks turn to go to the ballpoint planet).
