nik-names as a kid?

just wondering what nik-names people had when they where little, I always got Shirley Temple, due to my stupid hair...and the fact that I was pretty cute!!!! couldln't sing for s*** mind you!

lettie 28-09-2003 12:21

Re: nik-names as a kid?

;D  I either got, Colly, Lettie or Gregs, and still do! :P

Re: nik-names as a kid?

I too got shirley Temple when I was little, due to a mass of curls.
I couldn't sing for s*** either!  ;D
Still can't. Doesn't stop me doing it and annoying folk though! :)

Went through a stage when I was called all sorts of things like sandy, sea shell, etc, due to being C. Shaw.

When I went to the grammar school with a distinctive green uniform, I became Snotty green grass. Not very nice.  :'(

When my older kids were growing up, they used to call me Moomin, instead of Mummy, 'cos of the kids TV character. It stuck & they still call me that now.  :)

I'm also Nanna Moomin to my grandson now.  :)

Re: nik-names as a kid?

Nice friends you had there, Mik.
Janet, I don't think I was that snotty - the green bit had something to do with my surname, and Grot bags was a green wítch on a TV programme, hence that one! (or maybe I was a just snotty witch looking kid and still can't accept it????)

Mik Dickinson 30-09-2003 09:00

ANNE 30-09-2003 22:04

Re: nik-names as a kid?

He wasn't being cruel Janet just had a very strange sense of humour.
If I cried He would tell me not to be so soft and that i knew he was only jokeing.
He was a tough Army man. But always fair. Sometimes I think he thought I needed toughenin up.
I think some times he thought you had to be cruel to be kind.
